So I was working on a job in Dewsbury today and will be there for a while.

The road I was on overlooks a steep drop with some woods and a sloped embankment into which there are thick bushes below.

Sounds beautiful right?

Wrong, all you could see was years of rubbish people have chucked down the hill, a bathtub, an old telly, wicker sofas, sofas, armchairs, kids toys, dolls houses and a Himalayan mountain of kitchen rubbish and tin cans, crisp packets etc.

What the fuck is wrong with people?

Why do people think lets do it?

Driven down a local country lane at lunchtime today and within a two mile stretch counted 5 different lots of fly tipping.

If they have got the fuel to drive around looking for a suitable place to dump it then they have enough fuel to drive to the local tip.

Our local council is terrible when it come to the tidy tip. Number plate readers clocked me going in twice and started asking questions.saying I can only visit once a day.

Recently it’s been moved and redesigned and seams to be ok now.

I work on site so have the added bonus of skips.

I love wicker chairs. I’d have been down there having a mooch

But yes, fly tipping is very shitty. We’ve noticed an increased since they tightened up at the Recycling Centres.

The thing is, the council make money on recycling so I don't get why they don't let more in.

Our local council charges £18 per item to be taken away ie a dining chair is one item

Most cant afford it so pay a man with a van to remove items

a lot of these traders 'man with a van' have been caught fly tipping locally

it then costs the council money to remove the items

maybe if the council reviewed their charges it would stop the rogue traders

win win

because if you goto the tip on a regular basis they consider you a trader and charge you for each visit .plus most are inherently lazy and cant be bothered to go to the tip and will pay any man with van to do it for tem they will just fly tip

Council tips don't let in vans so if the item is too big for your car you are stuck.

They once told me half a breeze block was commercial waste and would cost me £16. I took it home and put it in my dustbin.

Kerbside recycling in Bristol have left behind two cardboard pizza trays from Papa Johns that I have placed out for two consecutive weeks.

No food waste inside the box and no grease.

I'm inclined to send an email to the council and inform them if they want to be fricking picky, I'll stop recycling and stick everything in my standard bin.

Don't the councils give you free bulky uplifts? Ours allows you 3 a year.

Kirklees councel is ultimately to blame only allowed 3 tip visits a year and trailers have to be single axle no bigger than 6 foot long, when i lived ther i cheated and built a 6x6x6 trailer so it was basically the size of a van, they werent impressed but couldnt stop me

Our council seems ok. I usually go once a month. Last week I did 3 trips in a one day no one said anything.

Our binmen used to not take the bins if the lids weren't closed properly..so if you had it full and the lid was open even an inch they would leave it. They have now changed and dont do this.

90% of that will be from rogue waste removers,

The ones that charge half the price of genuine ones then go and dump it

There is no excuse but people will take the easy and cost free approach when some local authorities make it so difficult to dispose of waste. To make matters worse often same local authorities have very little resources assigned to clean up and investigate fly tipping. People who do it are total tossers but if our council weren't in the position were they have to make such impossible budget choices maybe we would see less of it.

The whole Refuse Collection/Recycling Centres needs a complete overhaul, Sadly no two councils operate the same system, My local council operate the 3 bin system, Black for non recyclable, Green for mixed recyclable and Brown for Garden Waste.Other councils in the county each have their own system which are not compatable with ours.

The Recyling centres (tips) are all run by the County Council so same rules apply whichever one you visit, they used to e open from 0800 to 20.00 seven days a week, as part of council cutbacks this has now changed to 10.00 to 18.00 five days a week, this has resulted in a huge increase in fly tipping. As we are shortly to become a Unitary Authority perhaps we will get some standardization of the system but am not banking on it.

It's expensive for tradesmen to dump it at a tip.

Depending on where and what the contents are. I remember years ago it was around £40+VAT a ton for household rubbish.

Used to be loads in the area I lived in.

There was a regular guy who would flytip all over the place, the locals tried to film the guy doing it but he used to cover his numberplates.
