No, no creme eggs...

But Crumpets... Or do you call them piklets? @

Do you eat them raw, toast them, but still soft or do you enjoy a cripsy crumpet?

Personally i like them near on burnt, proper crispy, with lashings of salted butter.

Any crazy topping combinations you fellow crumpet eating fabbers enjoy?

Warbies crumpets, toasted but still soft, shiphams beef paste on top.

Asda smartprice crumpets, toasted but still soft, baked beans and smattering of grated cheddar on top.

Peanut butter and banana is lush, but only works on thick fluffy white crumpets.

Crispy top and bottom not burnt.

Salted butter.

Possibly jam.

Hiding in the shadows

Always called the piklets growing up

I assumed it was a regional thing as once I moved south, only ever heard them refered to as crumpets.

As for how I like them.

Well done, crispy on the outside, but still fluffy in the middle, with a great big lump of proper butter melting into them

I prefer a dam good cheese muffin, cut in half, toasted, real butter, slice of ham, and the crowning glory a runny poached egg on top so when you cut it the yolk combines with the ham, butter and cheesy muffin

I like them crispy, the bottom almost burnt. Lots of salted butter that soaks through. Then a slice of local cheese on top that I usually pick off and enjoy with the butter it’s picked up from my crumpet.

Halifax

Grill the backside off it so it's nice and firm, flip itt over sand let the top begin to harden before smearing some butter over the top and allowing to bubble up and ooze across through the holes and across the surface for a minute or so.

Yum.

Eat with a cup of hot tea and try to avoid the excess dairy dribbling down your chin.
