For photo ID to be a requirement for joining the site?

Having just reported the profile of a 17 year old boy, which admin dealt with very quickly, it's made me wonder how many other underage users are on here?

While it's unlikely that any of them get meets (one should hope!), the idea of a classroom of tittering schoolkids (possibly even your own kid's schoolmates) looking at and passing around members' profiles and photos probably wouldn't sit well with most of us. And while some might argue that having to provide photo ID will infringe on their own privacy, is that not preferable to being potentially exposed by or (God forbid), unwittingly entering into an adult conversation with a child?

Make your photos private and ask the people you meet for ID if you're suspicious. I would never sign up to an adult site that requires personal ID personally cause these sites usually have the least security and easiest to hack

I'm not currently looking for meets and rarely reply to new or unknown contacts, and don't indulge in sex chat, so it isn't really an issue for me. But from a broader perspective, surely if you get to the point of meeting someone it's already too late? You've unwittingly corresponded with a minor on an adult site, in an adult manner, maybe even swapped intimate photos... I think all of us would be horrified to realise the person we'd chatted with or swapped pics with was underage.

There is a balance to be struck. If it's too easy to get a profile, any child could do it. If it's too intrusive, many people would be put off. I can see an argument for restricting access to people who aren't photo-verified by admin, but I think formal photo ID is probably going a bit too far.

I do agree with you though. It is a tricky one.

I thought the government were making it so only adults could access adult sites already.

We often wonder what we'll do if we're ever asked for photo id, as our driving licences are old paper ones and we don't go abroad, so don't need passports.

Therefore, if we had to provide id for this site, what would we do?

I think it should be a member only site where everyone has to pay to join. And the fee higher than £5. This would stop most kids as opposed to ID

This, I don't drive and my passport is almost 20 years out of date.

Surely you'd realise if someone was that young?

I think it is a risk you accept when you participate in any internet platform, especially an adult site where anonymity is a pre-requisite for so many.

One would hope you would realise. Certainly I've had conversations with people in the past where they come across as very immature. I identified this particular profile only because he actually put his real age in both his profile name and I spotted it in my local updates... Thinking it must be a mistake, I clicked on the profile, and the first line of his profile text confirmed that he was just 17 and looking for fun. I reported it right away, and it was taken down within minutes, but it was set up this morning and I'm honestly flabbergasted that nobody else locally had noticed it or reported it.

thought it was a requirement of all network providers to age verify any user in order that they access adult sites i definitely know its been a pain in the butt concerning my network provider

I don't think you do in the UK. It's one of those bones of contention for Brexit (apologies for using the B word), as UK licences will no longer be recognised in EU countries like Ireland where driving licences are required to be renewed periodically and accompanied by a medical.

"What age was he trying to pass himself off as?"

In fairness he wasn't trying to pass himself off as anything other than 17. He put '17 year old' in his profile name and wrote 17 and looking for fun in his profile text, but had to select 18 as his age because that's the site's lower limit. He was just easy to spot because he freely admitted that he was only 17.

Kinda related.

Just read a peculiar case on Yahoo about a court case in London today.

A woman sends her friends and family a video clip on Whatsapp of an underage girl giving a man oral sex, saying how disgusted she was and urging people to share.

One of them later reported it to the police.

Not her sister, who was one of the recipients and happened to be a senior police officer. She hadn't watched it and there was no suggestion she had any such interest.

The sister, the senior police officer, was convicted today of possession of an indecent image but cleared of being corrupt.

The sender, her sister, was also convicted.

The judge said he had no idea what sentence might be appropriate.

A most peculiar story.

This is exactly what I was getting at... If someone underage uploads or swaps images... Where does that leave anyone they send them to? If some random kid you've never even spoken to sends you dick pics, you're still in possession, even though you haven't asked for it.

Apparently so, but we've had ours 29 years, so we've never had plastic ones at all.

The sender *should* be convicted. She was circulating an illegal clip. What the hell was she thinking? Why would she ask people to share it?! The mind boggles.
