Ali's dad is terminally ill , with bone cancer and kidney failure,has dyalisis 3 times a week, Just signed himself out of hospital as he cant stand the boredom.

Anyone else have stubborn parents

i have to admit i dont see that as stubborn, id be the same, being in his own surrounding probably just makes me feel more at ease, hospitals arnt very nice at the best of time who wants to think they may be their last days on there

Yes my mother refused to go to hospital after her heart attack. The doctor was fab and even got carers in 24 hrs a day.

They expected her to go over the next week.She hung on 6 weeks at home. Poor soul.. she had the best of care and was happy in her own place. I agree with him..He is happy in his home he has a right to do what he wants.

we must add were all for dads wishes its the younger sisters who are annoyed at what hes done , me and mark know and are prepared for whats coming, and respect him , he is a stubborn git though lol bless him ,thanks for your views forum

My mum was sying from pancreatic cancer and begged me to take her home. The hospital said it was not possible without 24 hour nursing care.

Unfortunately, "take me home Yvonne", was the last thing my Mum said to me. She slipped into a coma and was then put on life support and died two days later.

I wish I could have got her home.

Your father is brave and I wish all of you a happy time together, however long or short that time may be

He has probably weighed it up very carefully and doesn't consider the extra few days / weeks that would be granted him in hospital worth the negatives of being in a clinical setting away from everything he is comfortable and familiar with.

My dad died of prostate / bone cancer in his own home with those he loved around him. It was a good death if you can rate the end of life as such.

There is a medical side to this elderly people in hospital often get infections that can affect their rational thinking it does make them do or want to do things that you or I might think of as being stubborn.

i sprung my Mum in Law from Hospital and looked after her at home, she had a lovely few weeks with her grandchildren and her Son at home ,memories we cherish so much

If they have the care needed at home then thats the best place for anyone to be if thats their choice

i hope when my time comes i will be at home not hospital. There are many agencies who will help him remain at home, and macmillan are also worth contacting.

It might also be worth looking at a local hospice.

my friend is exactly the same, he is terribly ill yet wont spend more than one night in hospital if he has to.

He is a stone mason and up until recently he was working up scaffolds despite the fact he was blacking out. he even went to work ina remote part of Scotland on his own. i was terrified and made sure i was texting him all the time to make sure he was ok!!

i think he has had to admit recently he is a lot iller than he wants to think he is, he has been spending more time at home and letting his dad sort out the business.

i know he has left a letter for his dad to find when he eventually passes asking him to let me know
