Do guys just send messages without looking back over what they write. I mean seriously I read some messages and think they must have just sent that on a whim. Then there's the copy and paste ones that they send at least 3 times a week. I just don't get it. The ratio of men to women here is way off so if guys what a chance of a reply there message should at least be thought through and relevant to the person's profile.

I’ve seen other forums where they have ‘stickies’. They’re basically daily recurring threads which are turned into ‘stickies’ to be permanently pinned at the top of the forum so people can add to the same thread/subject instead of starting a new one each day.

Fab needs ‘stickies’ badly.

Yep have a had a couple of those the last few days. I think some just message everyone in the hope of getting a reply back so what better way than to copy and paste so it saves them writing the same thing twenty times.

I find it hilarious when I see posts like this... irrespective of the guy to girl ratio, who would walk up to a girl in a bar and say 'hey guys'... or, having been ignored first time, ask the same girl 3x a week "fancy a Shag"...I mean, regardless of the kind of site this is, treat each other with a touch of individualised humanity and respect

Regarding couples most are single men posing as couples which would explain a lot of couples cut and paste.

Lol so true. We say messages that only have one sentence or less will be deleted. And what do we get...'Hi hun'...yuk.

Almost all messages sent by single men get deleted due to them not reading our profile. We do not like doing this but if men cannot read our profile, or do read it and still send three word messages, they cannot complain when their message is deleted.

Mostly I would try to refer to something in the profile to prove I read it, but some profiles are so sparse, or have no hooks to refer to

I've started taking screenshots to actually show guys how many times they've messaged me or sent me the same message more than once without any reply from me. You actually get a prompt if you try to message someone you've messaged before and had no reply from. They then claim they don't remember who they've messaged. Well.. The site just told you very clearly that you've messaged me before and I've not replied. It's soooo fucking boring

I think these messages happen for a variety of reasons. Lack of imagination and effort, simply not knowing how to play the game, and perhaps in many cases, reaching the point where, after sending soooo many messages that receive no response, some guys simply give up making the effort. I can’t imagine how soul destroying it must be for so many single guys on here.

If someone goes to the trouble of writing to us, something that is a few sentences long and is polite and coherent and specific to us, we always send a reply.

We have quite a few who send the same thing week after week, or every time we post up new pics, sometimes even after a polite no thanks. We don't WANT to block them but sometimes it gets very close!

I get that, post a new pic, show a new veri and the same names again and again. And what incenses me is the way they say "I had to tell you how hot you look, I couldn't help myself" There's just so many reasons why that's just all kinds of wrong.

Well as a guy I have never yet been messaged by a lady first,only gay guys and Iv been here a while now.im starting to think it’s to much of a cock fest on fab,and when you do speak to ladys you just never know what they want to herd as an ice breaker

I don’t message first as a rule and respond to those that take an interest in me. I find it far less frustrating than attempting to craft a really good first message, after reading the profile, checking out the pics and writing something pertinent, slightly amusing and even proof read ( a rarity for me these days) for it to simply disappear like a needle in a haystack.

I concentrate instead on things I enjoy, such as chatting to friends that I really like, posting in the forum and when feeling brave venturing into the chat rooms.

I have got to know far more people I really like this way than I ever did trying to be proactive.

But you are being proactive. You're just working smart instead of working hard. You're an object lesson to a lot of men here who don't understand that they'll need to give women a reason to want to get to know them. That's what you're doing.

I send very few messages. Only when a status or pictures takes my interest or as part of a forum challenge.

Therefore none of mine are simply copy and paste, all are individual.

Perhaps if I were sending 100s per day then I would resort to copy and paste.

When we first joined "most" blokes would send copy and paste messages or "nice tits" so Ray changed our settings.

For me I like the person to engage and actually put something nice or a conversation starter and a thank you goes a long way xxx

We haven't got much to go on. To be fair I tend not to send them any messages..

Same as ones with a very large profile it's really off putting.

I like it simple an easy, and does not hurt the eyes. When reading it

I could spend 4 hours a day, reading profiles, crafting messages etc. WOuldn't make much difference, maybe 1 or 2 extra meets a year if I am lucky.

Couples and single women complain about getting too many messages. My profile states who I am, my pictures describe me more than words. If someone likes what they see, they either wink or message.

Saves a lot of time

I understand what is being said and get a few myself but I just sort of eye roll and ignore it.

If it bothered me that much the solution is in my hands, block all from making the first contact and I'd mail which ever profile I was interested in.
