But while cooking my tea (roast beef with all the trimmings) I realised my favourite thing about Christmas is brussel sprouts

Hillside desolate

I love them too. It's close between them and roast potatoes for my favourite bit of the Christmas Dinner.

Tea? It's dinner darling.

Tea is crumpets, toast and sandwiches...with Brussel sprouts if that's your thang.

Only if they are crunchy, hate soggy sprouts

Back in the day people used to boil the shite out of sprouts along with most green veg!

Sprouts are great if not overcooked

The reason some people dont like sprouts is that there is a chemical in them that not everyone can taste. Everyone who has the gene and can taste the chemical does not like them, everyone who can not taste it likes them.

They have been breeding the chemical out of them, so if people didnt like them in the past they should give them a try again.

As a scientist I didn't know this, thank you, I shall research further

Depends on where you come from. Dinner as a kid for me was lunch and dinner was called tea

Mmmm you made my mouth water. I add finely sliced garlic and use a butter olive oil combo. Hot damn that’s good.

This is controversial. You said tea!

I cooked sprouts, sautéed with lardons and chestnuts for Sunday dinner. Scrummy.

Brussel sprouts get a lot of bad press. If cooked correctly with a suitable accompaniment they are outstanding. It's not Christmas with out Brussel sprouts.

I like raw sprouts, can't eat them cooked, I also like dipping salad cream sandwich in tea, yum.

So prancing around like a fairy in a dress is not the only odd thing that I do !! Xx

"But while cooking my tea (roast beef with all the trimmings) I realised my favourite thing about Christmas is brussel sprouts "

After Christmas dinner look out of your lounge window.

Up and down the country you'll see what looks like proud dad's, out walking the children with their new toys. Girls pushing prams, boys with radio controlled cars.

These proud dad's are actually enjoying the long held after-Christmas dinner ritual known as "sprout walk".

It's not controversial it is infact physiological it's to do with our taste buds. Whether or not we have more or less of a certain type
