We all have em. ..maybe your ex military, lived rough...just lived a different lideas previously and certain Quirks from it still exist in present life. I ve lived many extremes but two years living homeless and off grid have left me with loads...I don't like 4 walls if gf is away, still treat my own injuries and illnesses in quite brutal ways and I still go to my former living spot with a Costa early hours to touch base..need the latter every 3 days or so. ..my life is one foot in a house situation and the other in the free outdoors...what's yours? I know exactly military types that years after leaving they still iron everything perfectly

surrounded by twinkly lights

I need alone space from people, at least twice a week I will tuck away for a few hours outdoors in the forest or at the beach and just breathe and empty my brain.

I pressed send too quick.

For me it has roots in being only child raised near a gorgeous forest. Wilderness, nature sounds and freedom of exploring. Used to walk there with a book or watch clouds lying in the meadow. Habits give us some sense of security dont they...

La la land

Have several, one of the most noticeable to others is that I jump at the slightest thing. Something they find amusing but is a reminder of a past life. On the more positive grew up on a farm and I need to get away from people generally on the local common

I'm easily people'd out.

I need space every day or I can't relax.

That resonates - I’m an only child too, and would be totally lost without the solitude and well-being gained by walking in the mountains of Wales.

That’s not to say it’s not nice to have company to do it, too.

It’s not a quirk really, but I guess the way I regularly let out a quasi-orgasmic yelp of delight when confronted by an amazing view on those walks is

Walking down the only road I've ever known!

I have many and yes I get up way to early after many years of working night shift.

Also ex military and I need my solitude to shift the darkness that does envelop me at times.

It's interesting that everyone posting is in need of downtime and solitude from people..I think it's how the body and mind recharge and recalibrate balance...me time amidst the wild places is mellowing and to a large degree humbling as it sets in our minds that we are a small part of a greater cycle...

Under the Duvet

I hate closed doors.

Every single internal door in my house is always propped open.

Closed doors give me the heebie jeebies.

Urgh.

Worthing

I do that with my garden. Shut the doors, stay away from screens and sit watching the birds feeding. Sometimes the local cat pays a visit to sit with me.

Very much my own person and I need my space, both physical and mental. Been getting much better at sharing that in recent years and I feel fuck loads better for that. Still need my long showers for my thinking time and I'm a great one for staring into space looking like a spaz but that's when I'm planning world domination....

I like sitting in the quiet.

My life is so chaotic and loud that when i can i just like to sit in quiet. No tv, no music, just quiet.

I’m also a pretty solitary person.

This is me to a Tee. I grew up in a city, moved to the country at 16 and now live in a fairly remote corner of East Yorkshire, but within 30 minutes of Hull. My life involves talking to lots of people all over the country, as well as lots of music, and at the end of the week it's great to come home and shut the world outside my door and sit in silence.

your imagination

I like my own space and with one notable exception find that I have limited capacity to spend long periods of time (3 days maximum) in the same company... The urge to bolt kicks in. I love my friends and family, but in manageable portions

Oddly though I'll also miss them when they're not around
