"I’ve been looking into it for a while, or maybe a small piece of land or narrowboat. Internet connection useful though for work so I suppose varying degrees of true off grid" i nearly bought a narrow boat but if you want to be mobile....fuel is expensive! mooring fees arent cheap either

"ive a couple of mates who do...ish. They are still connected via internet etc so its not truely off grid. but they enjoy the freedom without a mortgage and the community feel that just gets a bit lost on a normal road" Being a digital nomad seems to be a vanlife theme so internet connection essential

You can get a portable propane shower hang in a tree lol. Get a larger mobile home . Have mobile Wifi use it for access to internet and streaming. Remember unless you are going to have a bit of land and stay there, live off the land you'll need an income. Mooring for canal boats can be quite reasonable but like everything it depends where you'll be, round Thames etc it is vastly expensive still but cost are coming down because living a canal boat life has lost a certain amount of attraction because people want different things from life now

"Love the idea of it. It's not practical while i have young kids though. There's a few book of face groups i follow dedicated to it. " Tongue in cheek but I love that "off grid" survivalists desperate to escape modern life, mortgages etc still have Facebook groups

"Just wondering if anyone on here is living vanlife or considering it? Or other off grid lifestyles? How is it off grid if they have internet?" #vanlife isn’t specifically off grid, it’s an alternative lifestyle. It can also depend on what you define as the grid I suppose, not being attached to electric water or gas maybe. These days it’s hard not to have some internet access but maybe the ideal for some
