Group socials have potential to be quite fun. If you cant get your name on a list, you can always organise a local one. I did, was a good night out. | |||

" Yup.. it's just numbers mate, not personal. Anyone who organises one and advertises it gets inundated by men within first day. Hence why it's an idea to organise your own. I had a female friend help me, I dealt with the men and couples, she dealt with the women. Made sure we had a small eclectic mix of people. I didn't want to meet an existing cliquey group either. My experience of clubs is a little like that. They're so busy engaging with their existing friends that they dont tend to have much time for newer members, unless ofcourse there is a vested interest of some kind. | |||

"So setting up a social, how do you guys do it? Im curious now as I would love to do something like that" invite some of the local people who interest you to a pub. Keep it on the down low. Create a group chat. Try to make sure there are at least 2-3 options for each person going. Give plenty of notice. Maintain conversations till the night arrives. On the night, go into host mode and make sure nobody is being left out. Forget about getting your own leg over for a bit. Your effort and attention will get noticed. | |||

See that scenario would work if the people close enough wern't already part of that clique that is already formed, like in my local area the new people, like myself tend to struggle to get gping, or so I've seen, because the area local too us is kind of a bit closed off, either already in the group who use clubs or are already set up with each other, and then us newbies are kind of left with either using the clubs and risk being on the outskirts kind off floating or trying to mert with each other, which is difficult if the 2 parites don't mix well, guess what im trying to say is, the people who would come, already are psrt of that clique, they all seem nice enough but when it comes down too it, they already have there group of friends and dont want to open it up, may seem like a downer but it is kinda true, like I do try arrange socials ehich is hard enough, so getting people together strikes me as neigh on impossible around where I live | |||

You're in a multi-metropolitan area. The amount of people within half an hours drive of you makes where I live in Worcestershire look like Timbuktu. I have two small cities within half an hours drive and two large ones within an hours drive. Does it matter if they are a part of other groups if they come to your social? Perhaps you'll get an invite into one of their groups in return..? Oooh look, here's a down to earth man with some get up and go about him, steers his own ship, master of his own fate? Social?
