Yep, this too, it's tricky. I'm not one to beat around the bush, I make it very clear if I'm interested, usually going so far as to just come out and say it so I find it difficult reading people who aren't like a sledgehammer with their feelings lol.

Did a sales course on "eye movement" signals decades ago which was interesting.

Passed it on to my team and went out with each of them to mentor and one lad actually stared at the customers eyes really intently trying to pick up on it

I get confused easily when it comes to signals unless they're blunt about it - and have sometimes perceived interest when none is there, and vice versa - so yep I need to be hit over the head with a club labelled "interest" and even then I don't always see it

It’s one of the things we need to figure out in clubs... our first visit was really great, we didn’t play with anyone else, and we couldn’t figure out the correct etiquette.

Obviously it’s just common sense not to do anything without permission, but asking to join in seemed like a really big step. Is it because we are new? Are there signals... or is it different?

I (Luke) am certainly better than I used to be. I missed out on a few opportunities in my 20s,and also put my foot in it with others.

What I'm also better at is putting out signals that I'm interested that aren't intimidating and allow somebody to show me more openly they are receptive.

I definitely have seen the signs a few times, mainly after a few social drinks. There was a particularly fantastic woman I met from here, that I definitely showed signs, after our first social, she was interested. But they seem to be few and far between lately haha.
