Compared to you

Comparisons. We all compare ourselves to others.

Sometimes through envy, sometimes through pity and I think it can be counter productive.

But what's the one thing you often find yourself comparing to others? Wealth, looks, happiness? Etc etc

Genuinely don't really do this.

I sometimes compare to my former self rather than others.

By former self i simply mean I'll look at older pics of myself compared to more recent ones.

Pointless comparing yourself to anyone else... No one else has walked a mile in your shoes or had your experiences... What i do do however is look at the qualities i admire in other people and work on improving those in myself

Height. I'm 6ft exactly barefooted, and upto 6ft 2in depending what footwear I'm wearing. But there's always some bastard in the pub who makes me feel like a midget lol. I wish I had an extra 2 inches so I AM the tallest in the pub.

It's natural to compare in my opinion. It can be a positive thing if someone is doing something better than you, they may be able to help you. For example my mate is amazing at doing make I recognized this and she's now taught me how to improve my technique

I do it all the time. It can be for the most mundane things as well.

Smacks of insecurity I suppose but I make up for it.

Don't really but if I did i, would compare myself to how I was when I was married to who I am now, I like me now.

This

The one area I compare myself to others is in personal relationships. I'd like one to last.

It's getting more difficult as I get older to be on my own, as I only have one real life friend who's not partnered up.

However, after some self analysis, I am also coming to the conclusion that I have convinced myself, at some deep, fundamental level, that I am unlovable. So when I medtvsineonecand it might develop into sobe thing, I act like a dick and push them away so that when they leave I can think to myself, I knew I was unlovable.

I think I'm pretty screwed up....

I agree that some level of comparison with others (albeit not always consciously) is part of human nature. I quite often wish I had more confidence with certain things (mostly work related), when I see my colleagues dealing with issues with what seems to be more self assurance than I do. That’s my main point of comparison with others I think. I work in daily though. And as you’ve said, I’m inspired by others to work on it and I learn from others how to.

Think we're all human and that none of us are perfect. And even those who seem to have it all, rarely do from what I've seen

Sometimes I think we all do, I know I’m guilty of it. But I know that my life’s not as bad as some people’s so I have a lot to be grateful for. I also compare myself to the old me a few years ago and that’s a positive comparison x

Yes I do this too. I always feel really proud when I deal with something in a way I couldn’t have done years ago, when I look back and think, the old me would have sat down and cried - the new me is kicking arse!

Btw I always come out second best but I can't do anything about it so any negativity is gone after 5 seconds

I never compare myself to anybody on any level, what other people are, what they do or what they offer, its not relevant to me.

so I wouldn't say its something we all do.

I sometimes compare my hair.

I can't help it, years of wanting european hair and being told that was desirable has sort of left its mark. So yes. Sometimes I look at a woman with thick, straight hair and get envious.

As much as I try not to I often compare myself to others...especially on here! I find its happened a few times during this crazy Fab journey, but then I have a good strong word with myself and remind myself that no one else is me and comparing myself to anyone is just a waste of energy!! I may not be perfect but actually I do ok and if anyone doesn't like it.....well bye bye!!

I try not to compare myself/my life to others because that way is usually the path to sadness.

My life is very hectic, and i do wish it was a bit less so sometimes. But it is what it is.

Loads of people you think are confident actually aren't.

They just fake it well
