Don’t get a Ford

I can’t believe how downhill Ford have gone, we have two transits new and both have injector problems and I have a Mondeo and the amount of issues I have with that I do not have the space on this post

Peugeot citreon engines are used also new mini's use the engine they are not good engines lol

This was sold by the government until they realised diesel is not the way to go. Bit late now

2008 1.9d model golf is what I have, I get 55mpg on bypasses and it drops a little on back roads but it’s just gone past 180000 miles and it’s never missed a beat

Really? I've had two peugeots and they've been cracking little cars. I've never needed anything more than new tyres.

Not standing up for Ford particularly, but this kind of crap seems endemic within the van sector. We've got some Fords and Mercs, have had Fiats and Renaults too. All a heap of crap and getting worse as the years go by. Added "features" like poxy Adblue, EGR etc etc that just make the things less reliable every year.

Good question.

I drive a basic Zafira. Got it 5 1/2 years ago - was dealer registered, so nominally 2nd hand (140 delivery miles on clock) so heavily discounted, and came with lifetime warranty.

The machine just doesn't let me down.

Had the misfortune of driving numerous models of both over the years. Build quality has always been lacking, interiors dreadful etc etc

The new Ford Focus is basically exactly the same inside as a Hyundai I30

I worked for Vauxhall for there years so I just couldn’t own one after seeing the behind the scenes I also worked for Renault for 3 years but I’d happily take any Clio with a 1.5dci engine

simple answer is to buy petrol not diesel, its always been a con pushed by people who have no idea, the running costs of diesel cars and vans far outweight petrol inless you are doing huge milage

I was about to disagree with you there but I’m doing quite a bit of mileage so the diesels are ideal for me

I've own two fords, nothing bad to say really, plus a few Peugeot's, Honda, Alfas even and not had a minutes bother. Current car is an e golf. Maybe I've just been lucky

Wouldn’t say conned into diesel, any diesel I’ve had have been reliable cars I’ve had one petrol and had nothing but hassle but that was an old M reg 4 speed Pug 106

But commercial vehicles like most Van's only come with diesel engines.

I'm sure the old transits used to have petrol engines but where phased out in the late 70s.

My company car is a Ford Kuga. It is almost 3 years old and has 97,000 miles on the clock. Apart from servicing and tyres, the only other expense it's had is a set of front wheel bearings at 80,000 miles.

The old Transits often came with a V4 petrol engine. I had one in a previous job. Was lucky to get 10mpg out of it.

I had a Mondeo titanium X sport with 50k miles and a sensor in the auto box went, 3k for a new box as you cannot buy parts for them, only a complete replacement then 600 for labour to fit.

Got it on HP and sill owed money but it was out of warranty (only get 3 years).

Never ever getting a ford ever again, also never getting a car in HP but that's a separate issue.

had loads of fords over the yrs and currently own a ford.like all car makers they have faults but Renault,citroen ,bmw have far more faults and are dreadful builds.all cars built today have far more electrical gadgets than cars from the 80s and 90s and are bound to go wrong.they are not built to last

I bet that was a power shift box .dreadful gear box and they always go wrong
