John Candy.

He made me laugh, cry, learn to be humble, and be myself. Loved his movies and his comedy.

Carluke

My grandfather. His parents died, leaving him the eldest of 11. He joined the Navy at 14 just to cloth, house and feed the other 10. At the end if the 2nd World War he was released from service. So he immediately joined the Army , to continue providing for them.

Never mentioned his service or what he did, but his two brothers once forced him to show his medals. Later in life, he told me some of his stories. Just before I shipped out to the Balkans. Guy was a hero.

Hiding in the shadows

My children

But my middle son, really is my hero.

He's endured more in 16yrs than most ever will in a lifetime.

He has fought, never quit, and if proof of what sheer determination can achieve against all odds.

I have only ever caught the odd snippet of what’s happened when you talk about him on here but he sounds like one tough lad. I wonder where he got that from.
