Do you hold a grudge or is life to short ?

What's the longest you've held a grudge for and what was it over ?

I’ve held a grudge since I was fourteen. Can’t say what it is over. But it’s 100% justified. I’ve tried letting go, but I always get blamed for it.

Never held one lol that requires having a memory and/or giving a whatever! Life is way too short to be wasting my energy on negative things!

Otherwise I try not hold a grudge. We recently reached out to my brother in law and his wife after two and a half years. We were greeted with a fuck tone of abuse. They tried arguing about things that happened years ago. We weren’t willing to argue.

Life must be boring if you can hold a grudge for that long (although my grudge since I was 14 is also against my brother in law. But an entirely different situation).

I still hold a grudge over a particular person I was at school with who mercilessly bullied me for 10 years. If he was on fire I wouldn't piss on him. Luke

Grudges are not worth it. I think once it hits 20yrs then its time to forget. Maybe 30yrs at the most.

I have a very short list of people, if I came across them, I would retreat hastily and not piss on if they were on fire.

I have others, I've withdrawn my goodwill because they've had too many chances to show that they're worth my energy.

Are these grudges? Maybe. They take near zero energy in my life and mean I protect myself from often horrible people.

Forgive but don't forget, but at a certain point forgiveness becomes a step too far for repeat offenders. I'll not be walked all over.

Totally agree with you.

York

Nearly 20 years ago a lad I was friends with tried to force himself on a couple of girls that were part of our friends group at a house party. Obviously when we heard what had happened the rest of us had a major bust up with him and he attempted (unsuccessfully) to get the bouncers in our local nightclub to beat me up not long after and also set about one of our other friends cars with a baseball bat. I haven't seen him since but if I did I would still knock his head off for it.

I bear a grudge forever but don't let it eat away at me.

Revenge is a dish best served cold and I never forget...
