I have never understood the need to use this phrase. And it’s overused anyway. Are you a fan of lol ?

I mean laugh out loud not lots of love.

Just so my point doesn’t seem as blunt.

I grew up using it on MSN messenger so it's pretty ingrained into me.

You don’t see much of ROFL. Used to be a massive thing back in the day of the MSN Chatrooms.

It’s strange, on here I find myself saying ‘lol’ quite often. Over text I’m much more of a ‘ha ha’ kinda guy...

I don't use much in the way of text speak, but I have an occasional lol.

The LOL acronym doesn't bother me (her), I have seen a few posts recently where people express a dislike for it.

I use it quite often to enlighten my message rather than use an emoji.

I'm not aware of ever laughing as I typed lol.

I guess it's the medium of text? Helps convey a message.

Bit like typing Faf. Essentially it means I'm horny right now but by the time you get here I'll probably of had a wank and have no interest.

Softens the sarcasm so people don't get as offended.

I use the laughing faces emoji too much. I’m quite sarcastic so I hide it using them

I like it when people do use it in the wrong context such as sorry for your loss lol

I think things like emojis and lol are quite useful. It's easy for something to be read in entirely the wrong tone, sounding angry and sarcastic when it is meant as gentle and sincere for example. Lols and emoji can often convey that aspect of a statement better than words.

I use it a lot. It's pretty much the only internet age abbreviation I use.

When I use it, I'm barely even chuckling, let alone laughing out loud....lol

I much prefer a laughing face emoji but I'll accept lol or haha in its absence. Lmao or pmsl are dealbreakers though.

When I first began texting I thought Lol stood for ‘lots of love’.

That led to few interesting and confusing text messages
