"Will having a low credit score affect me getting a small loan? "

Probably, depends where you go for your loan.

You’ll probably have a better chance being accepted for a shitty loan where you pay back quadruple what you originally borrowed

It depends if you have a low score because of not much credit or because of being bad with money.

If it’s the first, your Bank may be willing to help with a loan because they see how you handle your finances.

Best not to, have you asked at your bank?

How small? Could apply for a low interest credit card instead. May be lucky and get accepted.

"I’m after a new car, it’s come up at the right price"

From what I remember, finance houses used by car dealers are a bit more likely to accept you, but you'll possibly pay back more than from a bank.

Talk to the dealer and see what they say.

If it's a private sale, talk to your bank pronto

If you're worried, I have a friend in the automotive industry. P Mme if you want me to ask him anything

The boring answer is that if you are struggling to finance the car, running it legally will be punitive. Cars come and go. Save the cash and buy one when you are better placed to afford to run it.
