I had quit smoking foe 8 months and then things happend and its a particular time of year for me, so i broke and lit up a cig and the downward spiral began, im planning to get my sh*t together this week and try again, which brings me to my question, in your opinion when someone quits smoking how long should they have been smoke free before they change their profile to non smoker? Also my appologies in advance for my future crankyness

Depends on your point of view. My Mum isn't a smoker per say... she stopped 44 years ago whilst pregnant with me... last two holidays we've been on... she's had a wee gin cocktail and tapped a ciggie from me.

Also has one every Christmas after a couple of Baileys...I'd say she was a non smoker...

If you're trying again... well done...

I'm a month or so in and I'm still listed as a smoker, even though I vape

"I'm a month or so in and I'm still listed as a smoker, even though I vape"

And I think health insurance stuff asks if you have smoked or used nicotine products within 12 months

Thats quite intersting my brother despises smoking but once hes had a drink he'll have a couple of cigs... its so funny watching a non smoker hold a cig.

I'll be vaping again and i know a lot of people hate it as much as smoking but does vaping make you a smoker? Going to go see the dr about trying champix again but not sure about them as they had quite an adverse affect on my brain last time

If you're confident that you aren't going to smoke again then I'd say put non-smoker. I wouldn't be happy turning up to meet someone who had 'non-smoker' on their profile to find that they reeked of the stuff because they broke.

I'm not confident of anything anymore. But theres no way id have non smoker if i was still smoking, when i stopped i couldnt believe how bad other people stank of smoke it turned my stomach and now i know thats what i smell like plus im not enjoying it like i used to

This is exactly it, some smokers seem to be of the impression that a shower and some gum will get rid of the smell or taste for others but that's just not the case.

Have you thought about looking at the NHS' stop smoking help if you're serious about quitting?

I'd say, when you're happy you've actually quit.

When you've really quit, you don't think of cigarettes as anything other than a life impeding vice that you have beaten.

For me vaping and smoking are the same.

I recently met a ‘non smoker’, our social went well so next time I was happy to drive an hour to meet him at a club.

Once we got up close and personal I could smell cigarettes on his breath. Night ruined for me

Just be honest, we all have habits I’m sure. Good luck xx

Thats whats annoying though i was there at that point, since i started again ive felt nothing but sick, and tired. Ive lost all appitite i bet ive had 4 meals in 2 weeks, i even shake my head at myself when i light a cig, i know im ready because i wasnt ready to light up again i was so ashamed and disapointed in myself.
