Our profile says;

"M lives in North Hampshire and works in the city"

Where do you think "in the city" is?

We may revise our biography if it's not as obvious as we thought it was.

Thanks.

If you’re wanting to say in the financial district of London then probs the City with a capital C. You could just say ‘in central London’ though. That’s clear enough isn’t it?

When ever I've heard somebody say that they work "in the city" it's always trading stock in London.

We're only concerned with the where.

Maybe our question was as clear as the profile.

I like this advice, thank you.

For the record, M doesn't work in finance. I wish......

I have a friend who works in the city he is a real nice guy drives one of those road sweeping machines so It could mean that or something else when people are vague its open to interpretation.

I assumed London was meant, no clarification needed.

Anyway, the location should not really be relevant to fab unless you're hinting the meet will be at his workplace!

This could even serve as a filter- would you want to meet with anyone who came up with a weird interpretation of what city meant or why it matters?

Again, it's not the what that's the question, it's the where.

However I think we'll be changing our biog to be clearer about the where.

Nothing of the sort prompted the query...

We're getting a fair few messages from people who live near me, (E) who are looking for weekday, daytime meets.

I'm trying to work out why they can't work out where M works, hence a daytime weekday meet would be out of the question.

Rewrite coming up.

You say that it's the where not the what but the city suggests finance. Central London would be a lot clearer.

Ah, makes more sense now.

Why not just say if you can do daytime meets and if so where.

Not sure why you need to say where anyone works.

Maybe I should have asked which city do you think "in the city" is?

As opposed to "Where do you think "in the city" is?"

I thought the question was obvious. Obviously not.

Profile biog amended.

Thanks everyone.

In an ideal world it explains why neither of us can do weekday, daytime meets close to where either of us live.

I wouldn't even explain why. Just that I cant/wont meet weekday day time. Its not anyone's business as to why. I hope that rewrite makes it easier though.

Many of us do work but there are occasions when I've taken half a day off for a daytime meet.

Meanwhile there are people who work 'in the city' on night shifts and are only free in the daytime.

It's better to state clearly that you do not wish to meet in the daytime, no reason needs to be given.
