Changing username

I’ve tried to change my username a few times to a name that I use elsewhere, when I do it rejects it saying only to use standard characters even though I am. I suspect that part of the name may be on a offensive list but other users have it as part of their name. Does a “banned” list exist?

A banned list exists for messages although it's not published. I assume the same might be so for usernames.

What is the name, we might be able to spot the issue

I think the offending term is the word taboo

Yeah I'd leave that well alone. Choose something else.

Taboo isn't an offensive word

The very sexual names can be off-putting, for the record.

It would be blocked in the forum too if it was

A quick search shows there are loads of usernames with Taboo in them

Taboo is the name of an alcoholic drink so it must have passed advertising standards and not be considered offensive.

There are user names that have been banned in the past and others they do not let you put up some are offensive names others religious but this is common for a lot of sites you don't have to deal with complaints if you don't allow them in the first place.

Yes I know but I guess that it’s something the site owners have enforced since they registered
