The Town by The Cross

Often get threads where people put the title of a book they are reading but ....... WHY are they reading it ?

What makes a good book / read ?

We don't all share taste.

Diagonally Parked in a Parallel Universe

All the books I read and the ones I own are factual/non-fiction, apart from only one fictional book I own, and that's The Bible according to Spike Milligan.

I read virtually any book anyone gives me, it's whether I keep reading it or best of all if it gets a place on the bookshelves

I love a book that has me gripped from the first chapter. Rare these days though.

I love to read thrillers, the grislier the better. Historical novels. Biographies. Fantasy.

Pretty much anything apart from romance

When I was a prolific reader it was often reading the first page. Obviously after reading the blurb on the back, but the way the author had structured his story telling was what would interest me.

An example would be 'Carrie' by Stephen king, it's a book that is mainly written as eyewitness testimony or known as a epistolary novel, Zombie apocalypse is another.

First person narrative I also enjoy and have several I have read recently.

A decent plot or a classic I haven't read will also be on the list as well
