Plans for remembrance Sunday..

Hey guys,

It's that time of year again... wondering how your marking it.

Also do think it disrespectful to arrange play on this day?

Or

Should we honour the memories of those who gave so much ,and play, to enable us to choose whether or not to.?

I go to the service, only once in the last couple of decades have I not been able make it (due to work).

Afterwards I go home and get back to my life, a mince pie and a coffee is my tradition. I'll look forward to the game at 4.30 and possibly watch some of the footage of the service at the Cenotaph in London on the box.

I served and I'll remember one particular person at one particular time of the service, who served with me. That's my remembrance it doesn't belong to anyone but me.

So nobody should feel any guilt for getting on with their lives, all I'd ask is at 11am you respect the 2 minute silence wherever you are.

Kids hockey tournament in the morning and then Parade in the afternoon. I've got a Cub and an Explorer Scout in it.

Quietly shedding a tear on my own at the nearest cenotaph in memory of my dad who saw active service as a 17 year old in Italy (Monte Cassino) and Africa.

It affected the rest of his life but like the soldier he was, he got on with it, worked and bought his family of four up.
