"I'm always on the move with my job and i eat wherever I stop. I try to eat in salad bars but I don't see many of them and I can't seem to get away from takeaways. I do a lot of walking with my job but it doesn't seem to help me lose weight. The last time I weighed I was over 17stone. What should eat? " Meat, fruit, veg, salad, nuts, and drink plenty of water. Every time you want bad food give yourself 5 minutes to decide if it's really worth it and to remind yourself of why you are losing weight. | |||

It's technically possible to lose weight eating nothing but McDonald's food but you'd have to eat very little and you'd be hungry a lot. | |||

"I found that keeping well hydrated helps control any hunger pangs. If you want a shock, do the food diary as well for a week or two and be brutally honest with yourself. For me, I needed to cut sweets out (usually had a bag in the car ) and cut down on fatty foods. I also cut down on bread & cake. I've had no problem in asking for something like plain chicken with some veg or salad and potatoes, or other meats - but if there's any fat on it, it gets cut off. I've even found a fish & chip shop that did poached fish rather than battered with potatoes & veg / salad. That works for me, may not work for everyone. " Sounds nice. You're weight would be broadly the same either way, but you'll feel like shit on McDonald's and health markers will be very poor. Body composition would be a little different too. By comparison I have about 400-500 for my lunch. What do you have for your dinner? My partner seems to make enormous dinners that are mostly carbs and they're often about 1000 calories, sometimes even more. He's very active and doesn't eat much the rest of the day so is still slim, it's not very healthy though. Do you have sugar in your coffees? | |||

" Google Huel - (Human Fuel) - they do ready made drinks which contain all macros and micro nutrients etc you need. I find them great when Iam on the go as they do not need refrigeration. | |||

" I'd try to stick to the coffee rather than energy drinks if you can and while it's not ideal, either sweetener instead of sugar if you can't live without it or you'll have to reduce your calories even more to allow for it. If you're having two sugars a few times a day you're adding hundreds of calories. Same with soft drinks if you drink them. They're not great breakfast options. Could you switch to microwave porridge sachets instead? My partner even buys pots from home bargains he just adds water too so he can take them to work. It would help to add a lot more veg to your dinners. They will fill you up and are much lower calorie. You'll also feel better for it. | |||

I used to buy a crustless quiche and eat a quarter a day with fruit. I used to work with a guy who ate chicken and fruit for lunch. Many restaurants do diet or "lighter" options or let you swap the side of chips for a side of salad. Subway salads is another good option if you're careful about the dressings. | |||

I'd try to stick to the coffee rather than energy drinks if you can and while it's not ideal, either sweetener instead of sugar if you can't live without it or you'll have to reduce your calories even more to allow for it. If you're having two sugars a few times a day you're adding hundreds of calories. Same with soft drinks if you drink them. They're not great breakfast options. I wake up early in the morning and have a coffee or energy drink and some type of microwave snack then off I go to work. Next il have a salad box or chips and peas etc, or whatever. Its not what you eat, it's how much. Is there a diet you can recommend? You don't need a diet, a diet is temporary. You need a lifestyle change. Plenty of fruit and veg, lean meat and fish, good fats from avocado, oily fish etc, carbs from whole grains. Oats with milk for breakfast or scrambled eggs with Bergen bread. Quinoa/wholegrain pasta/Brown rice with chicken and avocado for lunch Dinner as above for lunch but with fish/turkey/lean mince, veg broccoli Snack on fruit 3 pieces a day If you need a snack then plain popcorn is good, cooked yourself. You can get oats on the go fit your breakfast instead of a microwave burger. Not sure where you work but Morrisons have a salad bar (although a lot of their options have mayo so not that healthy, but you can just get lettuce, toms, cucumber, pepper, eggs etc). Most express stores will have pre packaged salads. Subway do great salad bowls. If you can microwave stiff you can get microwaveable rice/grain pouches. These are great with tinned sardines if mackerel (if a big stinky. I'm not lived in the office when I have that lol). The options are there you just need to adjust your thinking. | |||
