Serendipity

Australia have now joined New Zealand and Norway in placing male and female players on the same pay scale.

Our players currently don’t get paid same as their male counterparts.

At work male colleagues laughed at the news, saying no chance. Don’t deserve it. I told them I found it odd they laughed at it as weren’t they playing the same sport? Capacity crowd at Wembley this weekend. Practicing same amount etc.

Your thoughts?

We talking international or club wages?? 1st up I'm all for it,

But unless they fill stadiums they won't get equal money at club level,

I think as womens football becomes more popular then country teams may end up on equal footing as the FA funds both of them. I imagine their argument at the moment would be that the fa makes a lot more money from television rights, merchandise etc from the england mens team than they do from the women. In league football I doubt they will ever come close to matching mens teams but international football will level out in the future I imagine

IMO Footballers (male) are grossly overpaid

England’s footballers have been donating their wages (for internationals)to charity for a dozen years or so.

I look forward to male footballers coming down to sensible levels of pay

I mean, come on - £300,000 a WEEK for kicking a bag of air about? Per-lease....

The attendance in the England women’s game tonight (yes there was a game on) was given as 37.

Not mocking, just redressing the balance.
