You are attracted to who you are attracted to. Why should people be questioned for who they are attracted to? In my vanity years, looks all the way. Once I grew up and got older, it is still looks but in a different way. Are they clean? Tidy? Dirty fingernails? Meth mouth? Do they give a shit about themselves and try to look presentable? On the flip side - are they still wearing tap out tshirts and gangsta hoodies and use more hair products than I do? Do they look so high maintenance that I cannot compete?

So yes, looks matter when it comes to whom you choose to swap spit and rub pissers with. You cant judge a book by its cover, but you won't read it if you dont like how it looks.

Sounds vain, but it is okay to be vain.

It really does. There are a much wider range of bodies I'm attracted to than personality types. So personality is definitely the clincher and then I grow more, or less, attracted to the person as I see more of that.

Looks play a big part, it's the first thing you notice, you don't go up to someone and say I don't find you attractive but how is your personality.

We all care about looks and hygiene but looks won't keep you entertained and that's when personality plays its part, what's the use of seeing/dating someone and literally having nothing to talk about or joke about because the personality is about as interesting as paint drying.

Not sure if attitude changes if you are getting older? I am in a stage where the chemistry and personality is more important than looks - we probably have all been on both sides - meeting the gorgeous wow person with no personality and the mmmh ok looking partner who sweeps you off your feet with personality and you feel connected on a different level - in an ideal world the 2 are matching but even as a "desperate" guy i walked away from gorgeous Ladies as either their or their partners attitude was off putting, outweighing any gorgeous physical attributes...

My OH has an awesome personality, but I didn’t know that at first when I stumbled across his profile on a dating site years ago. All I knew was I liked his pics and thought pwoar he’s fit and I wanted to rip his clothes off. After chatting and getting to know him if he’d been a total arse or there’d been no chemistry, it wouldn’t have gone any further. So for me physical attraction does tend to always be first; then personality determines whether it can last. I’ve never dated or slept with anyone who I liked *purely* based on their personality, with no physical attraction. When I like someone based on their personality but there’s zero physical attraction to them, I tend to want them in my life as a friend. That’s broadly how it works for me

Yes.

Someone can be the best looking person alive but if their personality is rotten then they aren't attractive to me. I've removed plenty of people from my hotlist after seeing some of the interactions they've had on the forums, or their status'.
