Yes.

On one branch, fourteenth century, although it's not that exciting.

Discovered the origin of an extremely unusual family name.

In some of the larger families (one of my ancestors gave birth to nineteen children that I know of) some of the children were clearly named based on news and political events happening at the time of their birth.

Not really interestesting but my great grandad was picked to go in the olympics in 1920 (think chariots of fire) as a cross country runner but in those days you had to pay for yourself and he had no funds. He also had 23 children by two wives and then lost an arm in a factory accident

Yes. Four Doctors in my family tree. Three struck off and a relative who was a Spanish sailor sunk off the coast of Ireland during the Spanish armada swam ashore and married an Irish girl (not all in the same day)

It’s wishful thinking but I would like to spit in a tube to find out, most of my relations are the Angus Aberdeen area but the family tree goes to New Zealand Samoa and a few other places

I have a great uncle who won the military medal for his actions in france 1944, and a double murderer going way back to the beginning of the 20th century, other than that just fishermen and farmers going back generations. If you went back far enough you could probably trace my blonde hair and blue eyes back to Scandinavian raiders.

My daughter had a dna ancestry test and her mothers side of the family could be traced back to 13th century French aristocracy and my side.... It looks as though non of us ever travelled further than the edge of our west Yorkshire town. Ah well no need to watch heir hunters again.

No, lots of my dad’s family we don’t know and my Nan was the only one that knew who his siblings fathers were. Plus my moms side was complicated as my grandads name was different to his moms x

Hiding in the shadows

I'm adopted, never been intrested in knowing anything about my biological family.

But I did have DNA/gene testing done, due to my own medical issues I wanted to know if there was anything hidden, I could pass on to my children.

It showed my maternal line is from Brazil, paternal Eastern Europe.

My youngest son now wants to do a family tree, we'll be looking at my adoptive family.

fathers side originated in France moved over to Ireland. My original.surname is very popular in Ireland

half brother has fully traced our fathers family tree

mothers side we're descendants of the Scottish Graham Clan

we also some connection to Stephenson who created The Rocket

I should really pay more attention

You are correct but it was taken to the America’s by the Irish in the 1700s therefore taking the E with it. That’s where my mistake was made I should have googled it first

It's so interesting. I love delving into past records. The Indian side of my family is hella complicated and shrouded in half truths. I'd love to find out the whole story but there seems to be little records in the town they lived and the people concerned never liked to talk about it whilst alive.

It makes it all the more mysterious. One day we will crack it.

I did all mine..yup some interesting stuff..1 possible murder...a cousin supposedly shot herself in the 50's but police were not happy as some findings suggested he was seeing her sister and certain things to do with firearm residue being on belly...why lift her nighty to shoot herself..why belly...and was she dressed after event...open file til 2025 or thereabouts...
