Thoughts on Nate Diaz vs Jorge Masvidal’s UFC fight

Nate Diaz was intrinsically outclassed via Jesus throughout the rounds. The only missing element of the fight was indeed the lack of ‘baptism’.

Thoughts?

Diaz always plays the punching bag till the last two rounds where his opponent is way more tired than him

it is on rather rear occasions Nate Diaz tend to’ve fought upwards of five rounds. Nonetheless, with the injury over his eye, atleast from my perspective, and further considering Jesus dominance throughout each individual rounds, I highly suspected - Masdival would’ve taken the opportunity in causing further injury to the eye. As such, It was indeed sensible Of the doctor to halt the fight. However, I really wanted to see Diaz being baptised. No joke.

Diaz is one of my all time favourite fighters and I was gutted the fight was stopped.

They will go for a rematch though and although Diaz is slow through the first couple of rounds he is relentless.

He doesn't back down or back out.

The respect between Diaz and Masvidal is there , they both know the other is there to win

Wow, some MMA fans on here.

Jorge's hands were just too crisp for Diaz last night & his performance was brilliant. I was expecting Jorge to tire midway through the fight to allow Diaz to get his judo throws on & test Masvidal on the ground but the street Jesus wasn't having any of it. I'd like to see them run it back.

Diaz is good but not great, his best attribute is being durable but taking that kinda punishment ain't the best game plan in this era

certainly like the common respect they’ve exemplified to the wider world, and towards each other. Nonetheless, both are indeed tough guys

Considering Jesus’s path to the octagon/cage, it is most deserving - he as certainly not wasted his opportunity of a lifetime. Unfortunately, if there’s a rematch, Nate Diaz may in fact be ‘baptised’, once and for all.

I personally hate the trash talk, I know Dana thinks it's sells fights but MMA is about respect and discipline and I find it a much better fight between guys that respect each other.

I'm also more drawn to fighters that have heart, the ones that keep fighting despite getting beat.

Nate is underestimated in his abilities most of the time and win or lose I really like watching his fights.

Masvidal is a great fighter too and seems to have issues with the trash talkers.

Was good to watch him destroy Ben Askren!!!

Ben Askren is a nice guy. However, I am uncertain of is reasons for trash talking so much, other than merely creating the obvious interest for his fights?

The fight was indeed incredible. Under five seconds knock down was just ‘art in motion’, lol! I felt bad for Askren. I do wonder if Askren will remain fighting in the UFC, considering is recent lost?

Trouble is in the UFC he doesn't portray himself as likeable at all.

I've not watched him before so all I know is what I have seen in UFC.

I hope he proves himself, becomes humble and carries on, through loss is how we learn

Flip flop is one of the best grapplers ever! Maybe behind Jordan Burrows.

I thought he took his record breaking loss pretty well, considering all the trash talking leading up to the fight.

The stylebender is an interesting character. Great fighter. Did you watch his recent entrance with his fight against Whittaker? funny guy. I must add, his fight with Kelvin was an incredible and highlighted fight of his career, at current. Interestingly, even though both Jon and Conor are both controversial figures in the UFC, I am surprised they weren’t mentioned as your favourites.

He cuts quite easily compared to some, but he's one tough cookie. Always enjoy watching his fights

You are indeed correct about learning from one’s loss - if Justin Gaethje can redeem himself, after winning his first UFC match, and subsequently losing two matches soon afterwards; well, there’s always hope for Askren.
