"Currently having lots of problems with Yodel and Hermes but an absolute nightmare with DPD - the latter so bad, that if I can identify in advance which courier an online retailer uses and it's DPD, I won't order. None of the last half a dozen or so parcels via DPD have arrived as they were supposed to and one not at all. In the current instance, I was working in my home office, all day, a matter of feet from the front door...about 20 minutes into the delivery 'slot' I got a text saying 'sorry we missed you'...that'll be because you never actually came, then. The following day - supposed re-delivery - I got another 'sorry...' plus a picture of my village pub...not even the same postcode. As I write this, I still wait for the 'upgraded 0800-1700 Saturday delivery'...I'll let you know..." I live near the depo and it's locally called :- Dropped Parcel Delivery. The drivers all work on price work which in turn means that your item is most definitely going to be fuck up. I have a friend who works for a different delivery firm and says they have to deal with their fuck ups on a daily basis and that Oak Whare house crap PLEASE DO NOT BUY..The wood is Chinese oak is okay but they don't let it dry out for a while so in turn when you get new stuff from them it's falling apart due to drying out in your home and where ever it's stored. Then you send it back to a warehouse (which is local to me as well) that has a shit load from others which have similar probs. They swap around the bits to make up the order. It's just pure shite and not worth the steam of anyone's pish.

"The joys of online shopping. I send around 500 parcels a year (ebay) I use Hermes for U.K. deliveries and UPS for overseas deliveries. All courier companies will have one or two rotten apples in every barrel and we tend only to remember the failed deliveries and damaged parcels. 95% of what I sell is glass which if packaged properly should survive any courier,my breakage rate is less than 1% and my loss rate about the same. Perhaps I am one of the lucky ones." That really is quite kick arse impressive. Jim Carey was just a naughty man then.

"Years ago, I waited for a package to be delivered to my Work Address as it was easier to do it that way. It never arrived, so I complained to DHL whose local manager said he'd investigate. He got back to me 24 hours later to say the driver had tried to deliver, but no-one was in, nor could he find anywhere to leave a card. I invited said Manager to my work, which was a Truckstop and with Security Main Gates staffed 24/7. I showed him my site CCTV which caught his driver accessing part of our site and parking up bedside another vehicle. The driver emerged from his van, opened the rear doors and transferred a load of parcels etc to the other vehicle! The 2nd vehicle left, with the DHL van parked up for a further 30 minutes before it drove away, never entering our site to deliver anything. Turned out the driver was stealing from customers. That was in the late 90's, my package never arrived, but I'm hoping one day that DHL will say Thank You!" Are you sure your parcel wasn’t on the same plane Tom Hanks went down on?

"I think it really depends on where you live. Some couriers seem to be better in some areas than in others. I've had bad experiences with UPS and Yodel whereas Hermes and DPD have always been brilliant" My local Hermes courier has been delivering my parcels for the past 7 years, not only is she super efficient at her job but she is also a real stunner and would be welcome in my bed at any time

"Go and watch the Ken Loach's film 'Sorry we Missed You' which opened yesterday. You'll never moan about couriers again. Probably his darkest, hardest hitting film." .
