I think what matters is that you love what it is and where it is.

Where do YOU want it, on your body?, should be the only question.

A tramp stamp on a man might not be everyone's idea of cool but if he likes it then

Upper arm. Hurts less than other places. Easy to cover with a t-shirt if you need to.

On men they look best on arms or chest. Definitely not lower back.

Make sure it is personal and has meaning for you, don’t go with the latest trend. Black and grey tattoos look best on men I think, colour can look tacky on blokes

I’ve seen a cock tattoo and wondered how lol

Did spoil the look of the cock but obviously a good party piece for the guy.

I prefer chest and arms but at the end of the day, it’s your body and your choice. Choose wisely and enjoy x

I've got one on my lower back, and it looks mint. Why let weird arbitrary gender norms make your mind up for you?

But yeah. Shape and size all make a difference to where is going to look aesthetically pleasing. For a compass it's predominantly round, so the very top of your arm would look good as it would follow the roundness of your shoulder. Chest is also a good call (the sternum hurts like fucking hell, I'd put it on a pec rather than in the middle!) or it would look pretty sweet on the back of your calf.

Also, ignore this advice. Colour tattoos look fantastic. Black and grey can be nice too, but it's such a huge fashion trend at the moment (the entire premier league seems to have grey arms for example) that it's liable to date badly as an aesthetic.

I do like a nice chest tattoo spreading to an arm.

Questions to ask are: do you want it exposed daily or covered ? How big? Have you chosen design? What's your pain threshold like? Some parts might feel more tender than others. Then think of a placement...

Some however dont want that .they want to know what and where with the aim being to inspire others to say wow your tat looks amazing

Can but not necessary. B&w can look tacky or poorly done too. It goes for both.

My friend has an amazing snake going across his chest, shoulder and arm. Pale skin so colours stand out more. It looks great on Him.

And colour tattoos are not a huge fashion trend, are you kidding me? Such a risk getting them on a bloke. I have spoken to a lot of inked people, male and female, and most agree with what I said about colour on blokes. But anyway, his skin his choice. Was just giving my opinion ??

I’ve got both black and white colour in variety of places. Risks every time, if colour will fade, will the black and white still see great detail in years to come..I suggest start of small and work up and don’t get first tattoo on hand or neck, most professional places won’t anyway if first tattoo

"Huge fashion trend" the Japanese were tattooing intricate bright coloured full body pieces while we were making houses out of mud and sticks, but sure.

The point is though, you've made the sensible suggestion not to blindly follow tattoo trends, and then immediately advised him to follow the latest tattoo trend.

Tbh the best advice any of us can give is to ignore all of us and do exactly what he wants.

As above ignore all the advice especially the no colour advice . Go to a tattooist and book a consultation ,chat to them about what you want they’ll advise about what would suit and placement , if they’re good they will anyway
