Footie v Rugby

Merseyside

Although a life long follower of football i have become very disullusioned with the modern game and the 'prima donna' antics of many of the players, and have seen much to admire, specifically behaviour, in Rugby.

I overheard a recent description of the differences between the two.

'Footballers pretend they are in agony or seriously hurt when there is fook all wrong with them and rugby players pretend there is fook all wrong with them when they are in agony or seriously hurt'

Food for thought ??

Thats just an updated version of "Rugby, a thugs' game played by gentlemen whilst Football is a gentlemans' game played by thugs"... well I think that was the gist of it!

Either way, I prefer rugby, probably because I used to play it and understand the rules... footie just bores me although I can bring myself to watch if its patriotic!.... but only just!

I like both games on tv but only watch rugby live. The people are nice, the children aren't swearing and the adults really try to moderate their language if children are present. There is never any trouble. The game is really exciting AND I can have a beer in the stand because I can be trusted not to behave like a knob.

I take my children to watch rugby regularly (not sure they appreciate going as they're young and girls) but I'd never, ever take them to a football match.

I grew up with football, my father was a coach for our villages team in a Sunday league and I loved it as a game often watched it on tv and then along came the premiership and money just ruined it, now I would rather watch a bunch of kids playing it as its for the love of the game its fun to watch

Rugby I came to when I met hubby and just love it, I do not understand it and think I must drive Mr B crazy keep asking why things are happening but he never shoes it bless him

So I would pick rugby over football every time
