So I keep seeing people saying they are too shy to let their "crushes" know about their interest.

It could be you they are talking about! Let them know that if it is you they may possibly be talking about, that they don't need to be shy, should give it a shot and speak up.

Honestly nobody would laugh at you, at least nobody worth bothering with. Hell, I'd hate to be the person that did laugh, the amount of shit they would get from every other forumite would be off the charts.

I don't get the shyness on a site like this?!

There's no harm in letting someone know publicly on a thread such as this or privately if that is allowed (filters/preferences). Majority probably don't come to much but still nice to know.

I sent a random message last night to a guy too far away, he's not seen it yet but my only aim is to make him smile.

I'll also add I know some actually are shy, and how much of an impact it can play on situations you don't feel comfortable with. Though I really don't think you need to be shy online.

However the threads in question can very well be a great stepping stone to get a feel for how people feel about you without having to take the extra step and getting hit with an official knock back. It has the potential to lead to great things.

I’d feel too awkward to name someone publicly. I’m not even that direct in my private chats. I chat to the ones I like and hope they get the hints and see how the chat develops.

I also thought the flirting and chatting on here was all jokey between friends!
