My identity is... complicated. I acknowledge and draw on where I'm from, but I'm not proud or patriotic per se. I've come to see myself as Mancunian over time, too. I identify strongly politically, with an ethos and a starting point rather than a political party (I don't stick to one party). My ethos derives from my childhood religious beliefs, since discarded. I like to think I'm a thinker, a questioner.

Well politically I am socialist. I consider myself to be a Rimmer clone, war obsessed but a natural born coward. I'm odd with a nervous disposition and I think I'm generally liked by most people that I encounter. There is probably more but i cant think of anything else right now.

I very rarely fully identify with any single group.

Im very much a fence sitter, not because I'm indecisive (though I can be) but because I generally view things from as many angles as possible.

Im not religious in the slightest, and while I disagree with it, I do understand that some people do only take the good parts from it.

Im very much an introvert that occasionally dabbles on being an extrovert.

I'm just fucking weird to be honest.

It's a complex and probably a very long list, on initial viewing it would seem contradictory I imagine.

I do think about this sort of thing at times, I consider it like a Venn diagram with me at the middle of various spheres, which don't make much sense, unless you know me.

It's also about being more than the sum of that list.

Identity, particularly national identy is used now to divide. It may be to sold as a common denominator but I find the opposite it actually true. identity politics is cancerous. I joke that when I was born my Dad bought me a platinum lifetime membership to the Contrary and difficult bastards club. There's some truth in it though.

I question everything, group think scares me. EG, This is the time of year for poppy fascism and those that don't want to wear a poppy are outside the tent.

Politics left of centre but will always try and find consensus. Socially liberal Like everyone, I have my biases and prejudices.

Think about football fans, they have their rivalries but when it comes to supporting the national team, that what unites them, nothing unites like a common enemy.

I used to be a "Tyke" (no spelling mistake) first and foremost. Someone coming from the Heavy Woolen District. Now I don't really identify as anything but myself. I'm painfully boring obviously.
