I refuse to discuss it until late November. We don’t go crazy at all, we do some cards, we do a bit of baking for gifts and just eat nice food all day and drink. I don’t even make a full Christmas dinner, just all the appetisers and snacks. We don’t overdo the gifts for our kid or family, for each other we do car boot shitmas and only go for gifts to make each other laugh.

It’s perfect. - Mrs

Sounds lovely. I'd love to not do the whole big dinner thing.

My nan’s spare room.

Oh you cunt you got me there.

I’d love Christmas if it wasn’t so damned expensive.

I think the spirit of Christmas is wonderful but it is unavoidably expensive, not just presents, but the meal, the works do to go to, and the well meaning desire to spoil our nearest and dearest.

Sorry to be a gloom merchant ho ho ho

I’m sure lots of parents are torn in wanting to do their best and what they would like to do.

It doesn't have to be expensive. You can get cheaper gifts or make something. Even offer to do something for someone.

Big hugs to you, when you have an anniversary like that it can overshadow the whole event .

I love the build up to christmas more than the day itself, the markets, the festive mood.Christmas eve is one of our fav days, however it does start far too early i think and people get tired of it .

I am working christmas night and Boxing day night this year and don"t mind doing so.

I can enjoy christmas eve as I have that day off ,as does Jack.

well then all they hype is over and people can relax, the xmas shopping is also done and the pressure for people to spend more than they should is gone.

Xmas is not a great time for everyone, also people forget its a religious celebration.

Somewhere near here

Hate it, I really don’t like it. Too commercial, pressure to buy presents; one year it was either food or presents - then called selfish and self centred when I couldn’t gift to my family. I’m not a Christian but society tells me to celebrate it in a certain way when really it’s a pagan festival.

I’ll stop ranting, I’m tired

It's my favourite time of the year!! I love it. I love the build up. I love the decorations. I love the way that most people seem to be in a good mood just bopping around throughout December. I am not too bothered about receiving gifts, I just love buying gifts for people and cooking delicious food and going on walks looking at all the lights and the festive menus and food. CHRISTMAS SONGS AND CHRISTMAS MOVIES.

I am so EXCITED and I'm not sorry.

Because as much as I enjoy Christmas itself, it is only a couple of days, it just dilutes and spoils it with the daft four month build up we have now. Most of that is just commercial influence to make us buy more crap anyway. My parents didn't put the decorations up until 12th night when I was a kid.

"Christmas must be a pretty miserable time for those with no family, friends or spare money.

Not really. I have to work in the morning then go to a local restaurant and dine alone before enjoying a Christmas movie and a Baileys or 3 on my own. Nothing miserable about my Christmas Day x

"

Christmas movie sounds good.

Chams or Socials

We love Christmas!!! T works up to Christmas Eve then has a quite period until February so this is when we cram in family time. We got married last Christmas so will always have something extra special to look forward to - makes up for kids getting older & being boring

"Yes,yes, yes. I love the build up, I love ugly Christmas jumpers and I especially love seeing my daughters face on Christmas morning.

Those crappy lol dolls will be worth every penny when she unwrap them "

That is what Christmas is all about seeing their faces as they open their presents

"I like Christmas from around the 12th - 31st December. Can't be doing with all these giddy people putting their trees up already!

Why not ?

Because as much as I enjoy Christmas itself, it is only a couple of days, it just dilutes and spoils it with the daft four month build up we have now. Most of that is just commercial influence to make us buy more crap anyway. My parents didn't put the decorations up until 12th night when I was a kid. nice tradition

I'm not even religious, I just like having a few days off work and seeing family, but still like to keep the tradition

It's nice to have."

Yeah, although the last three christmases have been hard since my dad died, the family has got a bit fractured since and it's just not the same anymore

Although I don't celebrate it, I like the "Christmas period" and the family/friends get-togethers that you can have, since quite a few people are off work at around that time.

And I love hearing the Coca-Cola advert lol
