I'm redoing the bedroom and can't decide between the traditional closed doors wardrobe and open design of rails and shelves. Now I know what I'm getting with the traditional one. What are the cons of the open design?

At least if it's closed when its heaving it doesn't look a mess

Unless all your clothes are amazing and organised, doors hide a lot of mess and sins......

Where will you keep your gimp suits....?

Do they not like dark and rarely aired places? Wouldn't expect them to be comfortable in open solution.

Open solution would force to keep it tidy. At least I could find things without emptying half the wardrobe

Aw I quite like moths with their wee hairy bodies and fluttery wings.

I used to have an open one and it does force you to keep it tidy

How about the dust settling on the close that aren't used too often?

The way mine was laid out there was a top shelf which I used for bags and accessories and things, the clothes rail was under that so it gave enough coverage that it wasn't an issue.

Unless you're lucky enough to have a dressing room, I would go for closed wardrobes. Looks tidier and there are lots of options.

Dust, possible fading of colours and it might not be Feng Shui
