Cheer up

So I'm feeling a little down in the dumps. Holiday blues and due to issues in personal life.

So what things do you do to cheer up?

I'm a shopping addict so I'm trying to not shop as I keep spending too much.

I'm playing Disney soundtracks but it's not having its usual effect today. Not sure anything will work till I resolve the personal issues but any suggestions welcome and listening to other people's self help mechanisms is always worthwhile

I think I've already over indulged on the wine too much on holiday

I'm a talker so if things are crap I've a few very good friends and a partner who I know will let me spaff my heart out until my head is a bit clearer. Sometimes I go down the whole cathartic route, there are certain books, films and music that I know if I listen to them I'll cry but I'll feel better for getting it out my system. A brisk walk listening to my favourite emo songs also works a treat.

I avoid alcohol as a cure - the next day I end up with bloody hangxiety and everything seems far more insurmountable.

I hope that whatever happens you get out of it soon, if you want to talk about generic crap I'm here, x

I find getting back to my usual busy routine and feeling I've achieved something often works.

Hope you pick up again soon... nothing worse than holiday blues.

Feel free to PM if you want a rant or have a sounding board xx

I look for the silver lining and try to concentrate on that. There's always light at the end of the tunnel. And then i remember, as long as me and loved ones are healthy, have a roof over our head and food in the cupboard, then all is good with the world

Oh, and remember the 5x5 rule. If it won't matter in 5 years, don't spend more than 5 minutes worrying about it now.

Staying at home will just remind you of it. Go experience something different/interesting outside the four walls.

Manchester (she/her)

Take care of yourself, pampering stuff (at home facial - I mean the spa kind - make-up, nails, hot bath, etc). Meditation. Reading or throwing yourself into entertainment where you have to engage. Doing something meaningful for others. Exercise. Achieving something. Talking to people.

Different strokes for different folks. I find, putting my favourite music on and walking for a while, always helps. Get some endorphins going. Sorry to hear you are down in the dumps. Just remember, you are not alone. Hope things Brighten up for you soon x

The right place

I like spending time with friends especially ones with benefits!

Or getting outside in the fresh air.

I'm kinda stuck for all the things I usually do so I'm currently attempting to use the forums as a distraction.

I'm not sure it's working.

I try be more positive when I feel crap, happy face, up straight posture and speak in happy tone haha

Fresh air and exercise are the only things that have ever been proven to work. What do you fancy doing?
