"Today 2-04-2012 marks 30 years since a place very special to me, its inhabitants and thier very way of life came under attack. 255 brave service personnel payed the ultimate price ensuring they kept the right of choice, the same right of choice we all have ...we use ours to call ourselves Swingers, they use thiers to call themselves Falkland Islanders and British!!!! I would like to take this chance some 30 yrs on to thank all those on this site , be they family members of the 255 or people who fought along side them and still carry the physical and mental scars of those 74 days. Thank you one and all WE WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THEM. " Never forget always remember

"Nice bit of sentiment but better to support 365 days not just on occasions. " I'm sure most do in their own good way. Mine is to not spit on our boys when they come home, or call them baby-killers, or stick up for them in a garage when some snotty-nosed shitface of a cashier decides it's a great opportunity to voice his criticism of Iraq/Afghan..by refusing to serve a soldier in uniform. And I wear my wristband with pride, and I do it so that if any off duty soldiers see me in the street and spot the wristband they know they've got at least one friend nearby.

"Nice bit of sentiment but better to support 365 days not just on occasions. " Having lived in the Falklands and with my mother buried in Stanley grave yard, there is never a day goes by that i do not thank every single member of the task force. This is a dept i can never repay but will carry with me forever. !!!

"Nice bit of sentiment but better to support 365 days not just on occasions. " For those who served in the Falklands conflict or had friends and family who served in the conflict.....or any other conflict come to that.....dates and anniversaries are very important. Particularly for those who have lost relatives in wars and military conflict, anniversaries are highly relevant and will always mean more than to the average person. So you will have to forgive us for paying tribute....

If we all helped in real life there would be more help for struggling families lads who need expensive artificial limbs that they cant get funding for etc. If everyone who said bless put their hand in pocket and gave £10 i would be happier.

"Haven't seen anyone saying 'Ah bless' on this thread.....why not just let people pay their own tributes without feeling the need to question them or their reasons for doing so? " Im not questioning then get it right i am saying do more than a few words on a thread. So many maimed need help and still not enough in the kitty to help. What you saying you dont like it being pointed out more than words are necessary?

"I think it's far better if we avoid arguing the toss and just remember....in our own individual ways. " Im not arguing im pointing out words are good but helping out is better. So many think its fashionable to be compassionate but go one further and do something.

Given that the story of the anniversary has been the lead on the BBC news throughout the day, and featured in all the serious newspapers, and had a talk in all to itself on radio 5 Undead, what risk did you think there was of anyone forgetting? Or are you just showing us all how much it matters to you? That's no bad thing, but, frankly, there are better ways of doing that...

Ex servicemen and women make up a disproportionate share of the homeless and the needy in our country. Everyone who puts in time at soup kitchens, at homeless shelters, in re-settlement centres and in outreach projects, feeding, supporting, listening and advising, working with families and with damaged survivors, is also paying their respects to those who have served.

" The more i think about this post the more judgmental i find it towards me as the original poster. Ron i don't know you and you don't know me, so you can not be aware of any charity work / fundraising i may have done, or not done for organizations that help that help our service personnel, including Help 4 Heroes ( a charity that refuses to give help to ANY service person injured POST 9-11). All i ask is please consider the reasons some one may post a thread such as this , as my previous posts make clear i did so on a date that will be as intrenched in thier minds as is mine to thank those on this site (of which i know there are quite a few)who have a connection to the Falklands conflict, be they comrades or family members of the 255 (reading your posts i see your are 1 yourself) that thier actions and sacrifice will NEVER be forgotten. As i said in earlier post .....this is a dept i can never repay but will carry with me forever. Again ....thank you all.
