"EGR is an easy job to replace yourself and it is simple enough to get some electrical spray cleaner to clean off the MAF sensor. Is there any smoke coming out of the back and if do what colour is it?" Nope no smoke that we have noticed

"With engine light on it will have a code in ecu to tell you what it is. Buy a cheap code reader off eBay " This is the most sensible suggestion so far. Your car has a fault, the ECU is putting the car in to limp mode and reading the code will tell you exactly what is up. It’s probably a sensor, but at least you will know which one.

Car running fine but dash light on so MOT replacement.
