My music taste is quite varied, but always find myself drawn to the 60's.

I don't know why, I wasn't even born then.. it just is.

Name your top ten tunes from the Swinging 60's.

Feel free to give reasons why, or only do top 5 if you can't think of any.

Mine are.. in no particular order..

1. Jimi Hendrix - All along the Watchtower.

2. Creedence Clearwater - Fortunate Son.

3. Ray Charles - Hit the Road Jack.

4. Nina Simone - Feeling Good.

5. The Rolling Stones - Paint it Black.

6. Janis Joplin - Piece of my Heart.

7. Marvin Gaye - Heard it through the Grapevine.

8. The Animals - House of the Rising Sun.

9. Otis Redding - (Sittin' on) The Dock of the Bay.

10. James Brown - I Feel Good.

I think.. but so much great music to choose from that mine my change as the thread goes on and I'm reminded of others I've forgotten.

Lodi - Creedance Clearwater Revival

My Girl - The Temptations (although i like a lot of their other stuff)

God Only Knows - The Beach Boys

Will you still love me Tomorrow - The Shirelles

El Condor Pasa - Simon & Garfunkel (reminds me of my uncle who died when i was 9)

Be my Baby - The Ronettes

My Guy - Mary Wells

Baby I need your Loving - The Four Tops

Unchained Melody - Righteous Brothers

I grew up listening to these so they feel comforting and familiar with some songs touched by poignant memories of past love and family.

I may not always love you

But long as there are stars above you

You never need to doubt it

I'll make you so sure about it

God only knows what I'd be without you

This is definitely in my top 10. In fact the whole Pet Sounds LP could be. Perfect lyrics. It's going to be tough doing a top 10 list.

My taste is all over the place. I started liking 60’s music as a teen and still most songs from the 60’s come on and I sing along and know them. I do love 70’s and 80’s too. I like other things but 60s music has always spoken to me, it’s either really light or revolutionary. - Mrs

Cream- I feel free

Beatles- in my life

Kinks- dedicated follower of fashion

Small faces- whatcha gonna do

Rolling stones-she's a rainbow

Love this list too.

Everyone’s selections keep making me change which top ten I choose. I adore the kinks. I introduced them to a group of little punk teens in 1991 and we used to drive around listening to the kinks or our green day bootleg cassettes lol. I like to think I changed the world

In really no order, this is just all the songs I picked from the 1960s that I sang at karaoke today.

I have so many more I could put on here. Hate being limited to 10.

Johnny Cash - "Ring of Fire"

Neil Diamond - “Sweet Caroline”

Louis Armstrong - “What a Wonderful World"

The Shirelles - “Will You Love Me Tomorrow

The Mamas & the Papas - “California Dreamin

The Beatles - “I Want to Hold Your Hand”

Van Morrison - “Brown Eyed Girl”

Ben E. King, “Stand By Me”

CCR - “Fortunate Son”

The Angels - “My Boyfriend’s Back”

...And by the way I think one of the best albums that came out of 60s was Live at Folsom by Johnny Cash. And if I didnt say that and believe it my dad would kill me until I did agree.

Oh god it's going to be hard to only choose 10!

I'm going to cheat and say The Rolling Stones in general. There's too many good ones to only choose one! Sympathy for the devil, Gimme Shelter, Paint it Black.

Soul Man - Sam and Dave

House of the rising Sun - The Animals

The sound of silence - Simon and Garfunkel

Whiter shade of pale - Procol Harum

I can't help myself - The Four Tops

All along the watch tower - The Jimi Hendrix Experience

Yesterday - The Beatles

A Change is Gonna Come - Sam Cooke

Sittin on the Dock of the Bay - Otis Reading

What a Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong

Too be fair, The rolling stones do just about cover the top of all 60s songs x"

I was brought up in a family that were steeped in the music of the 50s and 60s, with them active on the music scene in Liverpool and Hamburg. The late 60s and 70s Music was the stuff that shaped my own musical identity, rather than my inherited roots

We always had music playing when I was a kid and some of my best childhood memories involve my dad's music collection. Both of my parents loved music and my mum saw Queen live at Wembley which I will always be jealous over. I love how some of my music taste has been passed down three generations of my family and as my nan is 93 that creates quite some variety! One of my uncle's apparently kept his extensive record collection in order he bought them (strange filing system if you ask me!) and my dad and their other brother used to mess with him by moving some of them and seeing how long it took him to notice. "*checks playlist*

Too be fair, The rolling stones do just about cover the top of all 60s songs x

Agreed! Very glad my dad is a fan as I've grown up listening to them."

Exactly the same as me
