Film or book?

I know a lot of films come from books, are there any books you’ve tried to read but for whatever reason can’t get in to them but love the film?

My two are Les Mis and any of the Tolkien books. I remember trying to read them when I was younger and even again this year but really cant get in to them.

But give me the film versions and I’m super happy

Yeah def tolkein is really difficult, boring actually

I find dickins similar too, although the books are actually much funnier and drier

Can't think of any off the top of my head, but I generally find it's easier to read books once I've seen the movie.

For 2 reasons.

First books in general are just better than their movies, there are some exceptions.

Second, if I enjoyed a certain character/actor in a movie I enjoy having them in my mind when reading and if the book makes me see them differently.

I'm the opposite, I love books. Iove building up in my mind what a character looks like, it allows me to use my imagination. Films just steal that for me.

I usually don’t watch the films if I have read the books. The films rarely match the books, the characters you have built in your head.

But I agree for the life of me I can’t read Tolkien and I have tried numerous times. So just saw the movies instead

I generally prefer books to films and am nearly always disappointed in films of books I've read.

I have honestly never found a film better than a book I have read.
