I just saw the footage of the climate activist dragged off the roof of the tube train then set about by members of the public.. mob rule? rough justice? Justified or not ?

Justified purely due to the fact they protest for climate change yet leave their area in a horrendous state with rubbish everywhere. They're just in the crowd mentality and join in just because. If its for a cause and they cpnduct themselves accordingly then yes fair play to them but these bellends are just making the situation worse!

In other parts of the eu ive seen many protests for climate change and when they leave the area is always left clean and tidy so why cant they do it here?

Protest matches all organised no prob with. Stopping us getting to work on the most environmental friendly means of transport not cool.

They're idiots. Disrupting an eco friendly train system goes polar opposite to what they say. They did the same on the DLR. They buy plastic bottles of water. Theyve been seen buying food in McDonalds. They're just a bunch of hypocrites. Makes me angry to see all the rubbish they leave behind as well. I hope the ones that got dragged off the top of the tube train got a good hiding. No sympathy for them whatsoever from me.

I don’t agree with how they are protesting, disrupting people going about their daily lives and the targets they pick are not exactly the right ones.

However, the public removed them from the top of the train, job done. What happened after disgusts me, no one deserves to be assaulted

They keep using the term "Peaceful Protest". Surely that means walking along holding banners not climbing onto trains, buildings and spraying stuff over public buildings.

You cannot disrupt people's normal daily lives without expecting some kind of dispute or anger. What the hell gives them the right to think they can?

Mob violence against peaceful protesters is appalling. I don’t care how ticked off you are. Not condoning the protests - I think the target’s deeply, deeply poorly chosen - but I feel deeply ashamed by the behaviour of my neighbours.

On the point of spraying stuff, they spray painted their symbol on The Cenotaph on Whitehall. That was an unbelievable act of desecration of the national symbol of respect for the fallen who served our country and paid the ultimate price. What the hell do those idiots think they'll achieve by doing that? Plus a woman protestor was photographed walking up and down with a placard on the Cenotaph top step! They also put up tents, placards and banners up against the memorial to the Women who made their contribution to the war efforts. All those actions made lots of military veterans and serving military very very angry - I'm ex military and felt the same anger. The police shifted the scroats after a couple of days. If it's public sympathy that they're after, they're going the wrong way about it.

The police shifted them because they were told if they dont shift them the military will shift them by likely means of excessive force

Totally agree with you. In no way is it ever justifiable to use violence in these circumstances. Some of the comments above are very saddening as to the state of this country

It must be very difficult for organisers to control splinter groups acting on their own initiative. Rent a mob always turn out to turn peaceful protest into mayhem. I would guess that the majority of peaceful protestors would condemn the painting of the cenotaph. Not so sure about the train but it was a risky strategy by the man on the roof with no escape route, a train that could move off and electric lines not to mention an annoyed crowd. That is what makes me think that it was a stupid act.

I just think the authorities are trying to shame ER for their actions into submission by talking about the cost. They are almost saying that we should be policing London and not wasting our time policing you.

If ER are correct and we are on the verge of catastrophic climate change then history may judge them as heroes.

If it cost the equivalent to police the Suffragette movement years ago then the police of the day may have tried to shame then on cost grounds. Today they are seen as groundbreaking heroes ..

History will judge. The commissioner should just police ..
