Manchester (she/her)

I'm poorly. Feel like death warmed up. Flu-ish.

Please give me your old wives tales home remedies, either as a suggestion to feel better or for my amusement.

I caught a cold from a colleague years ago, I didn't like him much. I didn't know which upset me more, the fact I felt unwell with a heavy cold, or my bidy had been invaded by his bugs

Only if you have a cough.

I drink lots of ginger and honey tea when I’m ill. Might just be in my head but I feel it helps.

little house on the praire

a candle and a bottle of whiskey. Light the candle and watch it slowly burn whilst drinking the whiskey. By the time the candle has gone out you will have forgotten your cold

South

Vicks vapour rub rubbed on soles of feet. Socks on. Bed.

Also...Nightnurse. Miracle in a bottle.

Hot toddy made my gramp’s way: hot milk, a good glug of whiskey, a teaspoon of honey. Drink.

Sore throat? Gargle with diluted TCP

Manchester (he/him)

Plenty of fluids and avoid alcohol as it lowers your body's defences and your cold will last longer
