I work in mental health and have done for 15 years. Its the passion of my life and recently I've seen a lot of people on here being very honest about their issues. Just wanted to say that I think thats brilliant, brave and fanfuckingfastic.

I wish more stood up like that and a personal thank you.

Things have changed a fair amount in the past year regarding mental health on here. Before it was whispered about and widely said that those with mental health issues shouldn't be on here.

Thankfully a fair few people have spoken up and posted, supported and opened up about their own struggles. It's great to see and the conversation should always be open.

There is still that stigma but it seems to be diminishing.

I disagree with this. Yes, more people are open about depression and anxiety, but I have yet to hear support or lessening of stigma for those with any other illnesses.

How open are people here to meeting with someone who admits they've experienced psychosis? OCD is laughed about (oh, come and clean my flat!). Care to meet someone publicly who is struggling with Tourette's? How many people have even heard of schizoaffective disorder?

I did say that the stigma is lessened, not gone. Yes anxiety and depression are talked about the most, as they're the most common so get the most coverage, although other conditions are discussed as well.

I'm not dismissing or diminishing any other issues, discussing them and awareness is a good way of opening up people to them.

Surely any level of conversation is positive?

I meant to add that forum folk can get a bad press at times but I agree with you, the conversations are positive and great to see.

Totally agree with this..tbh it's very never been on any kind of social media or sites that has given so much support when an individual needs it...fantastic

It’s often said, opening up to a stranger is easier than to someone you know and of course on here it’s largely anonymous
