Looking for some inspiration for a wee getaway this month, recently we done loch ness, orkney and the lake district but we are at a loss trying to pick our next destination.

What's your favourite place to visit for a day or two and why? X

I love the Isle of Wight .

Depends what your looking for but Cornwall and Devon are beautiful and loads to do but it's a fair drive though

We will have to Google alot of these suggestions it seems lol (isle of wight and Cumbria) but we live a stone's through away from arran and pop over quite a lot x

Our friend is moving down to beer in February so we are definitely going to newquay next summer! Mr was there years ago and loved it! The 9 hour drive not so much lol

Any coast line where there’s no noise but the water. Although if I go missing I’m either on a beach in a place called catterline or up the hill in the woods lol

Isle of wight is fab !!

The Needles

Osborne House

Butterfly Paradise

Beaches are great

All the Pubs are traditional old style pubs .

The drive is scenic , beautiful everywhere

I occassionaly venture into London for the museums. Most are free to get in.

I like lakes, waterfalls, mountains, caves etc.

Wales has many nice places.

Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole caves are also well worth a visit.

The Isle of Wight is lovely and has an old England feel to it.

Loads of places, we're lucky to have such a great variety in the UK.

I'm sure we looked into stoneheaven when somone described these wierd hide aways in scotland with better beaches than most, but we ended up going to beautiful nairn as it was close to a lot of historic places and half an hour drive to see nessie

Not a fan of citys and we imagine we would have to remortgage to afford London lol, once again cheddar gorge is on our list for cornwall along with Stonehenge and lands end as we can do most on the way down or up

We are going to try and see as much of the south coast as possible next may/June or whenever the weather seems to pick up!

Also need to look into more places in wales as snowdonia is gorgeous and the accents are

Seen so much in scotland over the last year! Stayed in a cheap wee flat in oban and drove to fort william and the viaduct! Also done skara brae in the summer which has been our favourite so far but I think we will fly next time as it was a bit costly and a c**t of a drive lol

Now that looks morbidly interesting!! And easy to check out on the way down, and we are not surprised yet another beautiful beach on the south coast

If only it was that easy lol, but tbh we are ditching our wee monster for a day or two so it usually turns out to be a trip full of staying in bed to the afternoon and lazing about

Definitely be checking into flamingo land at the start of the season then! Loved that place

And the looking to meet mature women was the main reason we joined fab but we are out with most age ranges unfortunately sonwe have happily settled for the banter and what's turning out to be some great forumite advice

You'd be surprised how cheaply you can do London, especially if you stay outside at the end of one of the tube lines or close to a train line in - with advanced bookings a Premier Inn or Travelodge can be got for around £50 a night - all day travel card is about £12 - then if you avoid the obvious expensive tourist attractions (most of which are overpriced and not worth it) you can still see a heck of a lot for free - Natural History Museum, V&A, Science Museum are all fantastic and free, National Gallery is too and many many other smaller museums and galleries. You then have sites to see like Big Ben, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, the various parks, again all free.

Some fantastic walks along the Thames - free.

Even eating out needn't be expensive if you pick the right places and use things like Vouchercloud.

There’s loads of beautiful areas here. I used to work promoting the place - know lots of great spots, some less frequented by visitors

Aviemore for skiing in winter and St Andrews in summer . We have a holiday home in St. Andrews and are very keen for a naughty weekend away with an elusive unicorn ...... any ladies fancy wined, dined and a weekend away St. Andrews please hit us up lol

As soon as you pass Perth on the way to Inverness it just becomes one of the most beautiful places to drive through! We usually use pitlochry as our half way pit stop

and if only we all had a companion to share all these trips with!

Bath is fantastic for a weekend away so much to do.

Harrogate is nice as is York - combine the 2 they are close enough

Lindisfarne and Holy Island are lovely. The whole area around there is well worth a visit.

Cromer and the area around there in Norfolk is nice too, take a boat trip to have a look at the seal colonies, the boats go to the seal colonies every day.

Yup it’s an awesome part of the country . We are Glasgow so we don’t do pit stops as it’s only a 2.5 hour drive for us

We were off to nairn and further north when we used the pit stops lol, we normally drive for a few hours then stop for one on the way up and aim for doing the full drive between us in the way home
