No it doesn't say that at all. It says that GCHQ can request data from web providers and/or mobile phone companies but it has to be backed up with a court warrant, and that with such a warrant, web providers and/or mobile phone companies MUST comply.

If you must scaremonger please be accurate.

They have been monitoring all phone calls and all internet usage since the technology was available... all that changed is it's now legal for them to do it, so it can now be used in court...

they have had the power to do this for years. But can you imagine how many people they would have to employ to actually do it. Key words or phrases are searched for and suspect messages are flagged but the rest go unnoticed.

a month or so ago on that Adrian Chiles show on a sunday night they had a young couple who had posted some twits about their forthcoming trip to the States using 'trendy' words, but were pulled up at JFK, gived the rubber glove treatment and put on the next plane back to blighty !

An April Fool's joke played after midday means the joke is on the teller, isn't it?

Please ensure your cans are covered up in future....

The shocking part of this story is not that they are going to record every thing you do (been doing that for decades) but that they are going to privatise it by getting the ISP's to record it whilst they install diverter hardware at the ISP's so they can pick it up when they feel like it.

It's ok, Wishy's said it;s an April Fool's joke.

Unfortunately, no-on e told politicians like David Davis who is furious, but not furious enough to resign and fight another by-election...
