The late, great George Romero’s original trilogy, Night, Dawn and Day Of The Dead.

Tom Savini’s 1990 remake of Night Of The Living Dead was also very respectful to the original and worthy of a special mention.

Mr J loves watching them all. I don’t like the ones where the zombies move fast. I can couple with fear the walking dead and he walking dead and we always watch them together.

Another classic zombie film from the seventies: The Living Dead At The Manchester Morgue - a an early Italian/Spanish co-production set in our very own Lake District.

Also no Zombie movie list would be complete without mention of Lucio Fulci’s absolute classic, Zombi aka Zombie Flesh Eaters

If you haven’t already seen it and for a bit of a different spin on the zombie sub genre, check out, Warm Bodies starring Nicholas Hoult.

It’s actually, delightfully charming and even has a wonderfully warm, happy ending! (hugely uncommon in zombie movies!)

The bit with the (protesting?) lady streaker? That was awesome

There seemed to be an intriguing environmental subplot running throughout the movie, with the intro showing our hero seemingly escaping the car and industrial pollution of the city only to fall victim to ultrasonic pollution (and a directly subsequent zombie rising) in the countryside.

Hammer Studio’s classic, The Plague Of The Zombies,

The Dead and it’s sequel and the surprisingly little known Canadian zombie flick, Severed.

For rather more unusual takes on the genre, try Autumn and Colin and don’t forget to have a ganders at the many, often slightly zany Asian offerings such as Wild Zero, Versus, Stacy and the somewhat whacky, Bit Tits Zombie (which as the title suggests, contains both commendably sizeable boobies on display....and zombies)
