Shrien Dewani

Personally I have always believed that Shrien Dewani was innocent and did not hire anyone to kill his wife and after watching the recent Panorama programme I still didn't change my mind. Shrien is incredibly wealthy and if the alleged reason for having his wife murdered was because he was gay, why do something like that when you could use money to wriggle out of an unwanted marriage?

I always thought he was guilty, but after the Panorama show, we are now not sure. Shame the poilce in South Africa are so inept and corrupt, guess we will never really know the truth

i try not to form opinions from the media on guilt or innocence, as they have such an appalling track record.

However i have a lot of respect for panoroma...why didnt it change your mind?

Because I have always believed he was innocent and there was nothing in the programme to make me believe he was guilty.

Television programmes rarely give a balanced view in my opinion.

They are written and presented by reporters, not lawyers, so I think it's unwise to let it influence us one way or the other.

You might think otherwise

Why marry her in the first place if he didn't want to?

Ok arranged marriage may be his culture but they were both westernised and did not look under pressure to marry.

He's wanted for alleged crimes committed in his own country so that's where he should be to prove his innocence. Not over here inciting religious murder.

Precisely..and Dewani is wanted in SA to answer a murder charge. So maybe that's where he should be heading. Let hin prove his innocence in the country where the crime is alledged to have taken place.

Yup, I'd go along with that. The SA authorities were daft to let him return to the UK. Funny how a man with no history of long term illness suddenly develops every ailment known to man.

You asked what appears to be a generalised question as to why someone with money would do something like that. I replied with range of generalised reasons.

As to anyone going into hiding, that's OK if they want to give up their family and god knows what else.

He won't be extradited at the moment because of his mental state, but if programmes like Panorama are shown more regularly it will help his case for the future.
