There and to the left a bit

First album - one of those Top Of The Pops collections with the scantily clad woman on the cover

First proper album - probably One Step Beyond (Madness) and Fine Art Of Surfacing (Boomtown Rats) that were bought at the same time around Xmas 1979

My first album was probably one of those dodgy Top of the Pops covers albums from the seventies or eighties.

My first album I can really remember was Whitesnake by Whitesnake.

Can remember blasting out 'In the still of the night' Christmas morning when I received it.

"The Wombles "

Yeah, bring on The Wombles. If not the first it was one of the first, it was a cassette that I got for Christmas somewhen in the mid 70’s, it eventually destroyed itself in the cars cassette player, spent ages trying to get it all out, father was not amused. I still have The Wombles in my collection but on cd now

Aged 12, my dad's work mate gave me a cassette thing. One of those chunky things the name of which I now forget.

And he gave me Low and Station to Station by Bowie.

The police greatest hits...

Dad brought if for me in Woolworths. He was buying my brother an album asked if I wanted one, I look around all lost saw a massive display of the police and said that one...

Only knew of them as an older friend had a poster of them on her wall and said they are the best...

I hated it, but liked it as I got older!

"The literal first album I ever owned was the soundtrack from The Black Hole, but that was when I was a child.

The first album I consider I ever got (because I became interested in buying albums) was Fore! by Huey Lewis and the News when I was about 12.

I'm surprised, thought it would have been something classical, bit of Stravinsky for example "

Good thinking but I didn't get into classical music properly until my early 20s after pop music started sounding boring to me.

Take That and party (1992) I was 7. I did loads of little jobs for my parents and grandparents to save up for it and then went to Woolworths to buy it. I still have it now in my special box

On a mooch

When I was 5 it was a cover album by Pinky & Perky.

Early 80s the folks always got me the NOW tapes.

When I got a record player in 1987 the first three albums I bought were T’pau - Bridge of Spies; Fleetwood Mac - Tango in the Night; and Madness - Utter Madness

First album I can honestly say was mine was roxette with joyride. Was probably the summer of 91 I bought it up in Llandudno when we were there for our summer holidays!

Previous to that I think I was just given a few tapes dad managed to collect with petrol coupons! They were all the start of the reward cards I guess

"Layla and Other Assorted Lovesongs - Derek and the Dominoes.

Still got a copy on CD and on ipod - sadly it's only thought to be a brilliant Eric Clapton Album... it's not - duane allman's guitar is probably even better than EC's"

That wasn't my first, but an early one certainly. Their version of Little Wing is so different to Hendrix's.

Bought the "In Concert" double album too, some great stuff on there.

Can't remember my actual first album, but The Who, Free, Moody Blues, Barclay James Harvest, Cream, Doobies, Eagles were all early purchases.....still have them all, and play them.

If compilations are counted then it was now that’s what I call music 10 (just had to google to find out what number it was!). I remember playing pump up the volume by MARRS over and over again.

But the first album I bought myself was use your illusion by guns n roses
