Manchester (she/her)

Do you worry if your friends here drop unusually out of contact?

I'm an old softie sometimes, I know.

It depends how well I know them, life happens for all of us and sometimes I need space or I'm just plain busy so I assume the same of others

I don’t worry. I assume they’ve got better things to do than talking to me. I’m not good at keeping contact really so I can’t complain if they don’t either

We're not close with anyone on the forum so no, I don't worry.

There are one or two whose occasional absence I notice though

My close friends yes. People I talk to less frequently I'd probably not notice immediately. However if I did flag it I'd check in with them.

There and to the left a bit

Think it depends on the previously regularity of contact - if it was someone I usually spoke to daily and didn't hear from for a few days I'd maybe be concerned, if it were someone I swapped a couple of messages with every now and then, then not so much

No I don't. If we were actual friends then they wouldn't disappear, we'd be in contact away from fab.

My "friends" always drop out of contact, at least with me. I stopped worrying about it long ago.

If I knew they were sad, going through a difficult time or upset about something then yes i’d Worry. I chat to very few forumites, and even fewer off here, so i’d Have no way of checking in with them elsewhere.

But otherwise, i’d assume they were just having a break or hopefully had met someone special and maybe moved on.

Can you contact them outside of the site?

I think it's nice that you care about them.

I've been known to worry yes. Especially if I'm aware someone has been going through a tough time. I just want to let them know they're cared for and it can be a bit ouchie if they just disappear without saying goodbye

.

No, genuine friends I'd be in contact with and they'd let me know. Sometimes I do think/wonder what's happened but they get in touch sooner or later. Maybe it's a meet or family stuff.

If they are my real friends I'll just contact them away from Fab and make sure all ok so I am generally all good

Fab acquaintances always come and go and then come back again......

They have. My friends know how to get in touch with me if they need me. When I feel it has been too long I usually break the ice again. I hadn’t seen a couple of local close friends for over a year until a week ago. I felt it had been too long so I messaged them and we all went out for a curry. It was like we were only together the day before except for the need to catch up on what had been happening. We are all busy with our own stuff: work, families etc.... That kind of friendship seems to be independent of chronological time. A kind of kairatic order seems to determine how it functions...a sense of timelessness about it.

..

It depends on what sort of friends you are and how close. If it’s a good friend, someone I chat to on a daily basis and they just disappeared then yes, I would be a little concerned. I like to think that the type of relationship I have with my friends would mean that they would say if they were going quiet for a while - not in a ‘reporting in’ kind of way but just because friends usually say.

?

It depends who it is, and for how long they were awol...just a day or two and I'd presume they were on an overnight/weekend meet. Longer than that and I'd drop them a message

I'm never gone long enough for anyone to notice or worry.

I don't worry as such but I often notice people who haven't posted for a while. The only times iv been concerned is when someone has posted something that suggests they are not OK then gone UNLOS but there isn't anything I can do.
