Amazing achievement but I read it’s not seen as an official record as he had pace setters all the way around

He could have stopped and done it in the gutter like Paula Radcliffe, or as he was running like Gary Linnekar

yeah I just read the same.

I think it was more about seeing if it could be done. As you say though still an amazing achievement.

Just to think he was running at over 13 mph / 21 kmh all of the way.

I can't sustain that speed sprinting!

I'll run a half marathon in 1hr 40 minutes

I agree it is a great achievement but everything about it was engineered even the design of the course and the day it was going to be run were chosen to give him the best chance.

It’s kind of like saying let’s get Usain Bolt (in his prime) to do the 100m downhill with the wind at his back to see how fast he can go.

Granted he would do it faster than anyone else in the world. And they definitely picked the right man for the job today because even in the perfect conditions they had today I don’t think anyone else could have gone sub 2hrs. But the real test will be to do it in race conditions, it will happen one day.

couple, us we him her.

I didn't think I would live to see the day it actually happened regardless of pacesetters and the course.

He still had to run and maintain the effort to be able to achieve this.

Anyone who runs at pretty much any level knows that running is the one sport where there is absolutely no easy ride , no such thing as an easy race and in fact a time trial is just as hard as anything else given that your up against the one universal constant that never changes regardless of conditions.

TIME!!!

Massive congratulations to an amazing athlete.

One of the reasons that this will never happen in an actual top level event is due to tactics.

But now we know it's possible....
