I suffer from this too, you have to do some light yoga to help relieve the pain and also help your lower back recover. Worked wonders for me. Also see an osteopath

Anti inflammatories worked best for me. Try to avoid tramadol, it's a nightmare.

Amitriptyline has worked twice for me, though it can take 2-3 weeks to get into the system to be effective, but when it does I felt the benefit within days !

Amitriptyline is usually taken at night because it makes you sleepy.

Agree re tramodol and yoga. You also need to max out on ibu paracetamol and ice - 2x reconvened doses for short periods. You need a serious plan to get rid of it long term involving stretching, core, weight loss and knowing exactly what to do in each of three stages - in pain; in recovery and ok because of you start doing stretch or yoga too soon will male it worse.

I had it 10 years I was a right fat fuck and now it’s long gone and I’m fit as fuck lol

Prolonged use also give really bad pins and needles in arms , it’s a last resort to sleep though if you have it bad , pro gaba or gaba peptin May work also. But you need to fix the cause and get off strong drugs like these and tramodol

Torture, the most pain I’ve ever had and that includes broken bones etc. Mine lasted weeks and had numbness in my feet for months. Tramadol tablets and injections didn’t help much at all. I wouldn’t want to see my worst enemy have sciatica

Generally if it lasts longer than 6-8 weeks you will be left with sine permanent nerve damage down the outside of leg or foot, like a numbness or loss of sensation.

The doctors only know about drugs and injections , if you had this once and don’t take action you will have it again at some point. Use it as an excuse to change your lifestyle and become fit and sexy !!

You should sleep like a baby. I would try it first when you don't have to get up for work the next morning

Iv had gabapentin for something but it didnt help. I will be on tramadol for ever due to another pain issue. I have no side effects from it.

If safe to do so..

Accupressure is amazing.

Sciatica is where the nerve is trapped by a tight muscle.

Irritate the nerve by applying direct pressure on to site of pain. (Usually ass check) for 10 minutes.this then makes the muscle looser. Use elbow thumb corner of table and pressure applied as hard as tolerated for 10 minutes.

Do 3 times a day.

This works.

Lie on floor.. Bring knees up to chest roll back n forth side to side.

Look up NHS simple backpain exercises

Try Naproxen. Tramadol is an opiate and really addictive. For really bad sciatica garbapentin as it works on the nerve endings. Will obviously need to see the GP for a script. I feel your pain I get it on and off and funnily enough had it this week after falling off a bloody chair. Short girl problems!

I am fit, sexy is a judgement that should be made by others. I have had more than one attack. I am quite sure it has little to do with lifestyle

I am fit, as for sexy that’s for others to make judgement. I am sure lifestyle has little to do with sciatica and even elite athletes have suffered this.

It’s mainly to do with bad posture and sitting for long hours at work, I use to be super fit, did the london marathon and everything but due to sitting for long hours my core muscles became weak, you have to learn to move around, do yoga and defo increase your flexibility also try swimming, I went to sooo many physios and chiros and took all types of drugs, they will slowly make you better but you have to learn to stretch especially your piriformis muscles and lower back. Sciatica is largely caused by the disc touching the sciatic nerve or the nerve being pinched by tight muscles in your glutes. Everyone is different and our body reacts to different remedies, look up exercises for sciatica

I use a TENS machine for mine. Used to get regular bouts but haven't had one for a while so now use the machine once or twice a month if I feel any discomfort starting and it seems to keep it at bay.

Is it sciatica?

It could be piriformis syndrome, I see a lot of clients with this.

The piriformis muscle sites on top of the sciatic nerve, so if the muscle gets tight or inflamed it pitches the nerves.

Good for both - massage on the back, glutes and legs, hot and cold, and anti-inflammatory

I’ve had two epidurals and one guided epidural at different times for my sciatica. I didn’t find them too bad, more a discomfort than painful, it’s not a pleasant sensation, but the guy doing mine was very experienced, I think that helped.
