Supervisor says..

If your supervisor and manager have said “oh its a friday and it’s your second week just go home early” how early is that? Is 2:30pm too early to go home. Bored out my brain and this day is dragging!!! Hope everyone is looking forward to great weekend!

30mins early?? Thats not early that’s kinda routine most of the office have already gone to be honest. There is roughly 30% still here.

This is the main issue. There is literally no work to do. I am doing a routine of checking emails, walking around every 15mins asking different people if they need anything and drinking a ton of water for a reason to nip to the loo.

I feel your pain! I have had managers who have been like that. I think when I am trained and have work to do I’ll be having full on days everyday. Everyone else seems rushed so they’re telling me to enjoy the quiet starting period.

Pretty shitty supervision and management springs to mind if honest.

Have they specified if this is a regular Friday thing/is there a usual time?

I would clearly explain to my team what time we were all leaving to be honest, especially a newbie.

I remember when I was in the forces being let go early on fridays as long as the workshop was immaculate. As soon as we'd get the nod to go home I'd be out the door like a flash, no turning around. But lots of the lads would fanny around chatting and stuff. Sometimes before everyone has left a gaffer would come back down with a last minute task and those who fannied around would find them self having to stay in a couple of hours.

The moral of the story is if someone tells you go home, you go, straight away.

If my boss said that, my reply would be along the lines of "Thanks, I'll hang around until 3pm, and if nothing has come up by then that needs doing urgently, I'll head off then"

Puts the ball back in their court, shows you are being reasonable and not shirking, and also gives them a chance to agree or disagree with the time you have suggested.
